Using coir and a myc tea, and have a fungus gnat infestation, and need advice.

Initial plan is to let them dry out a little, then spray top layer with 1 part H2O2 and 4 parts water.

Want to kill larvae without damaging myc on roots. Have seen some anti-fungals that will starve the larvae, but worry about the myc.

Have heard of Cinnamon, Chamomile tea, and some other things.

How deep are the larvae? Have large containers, and top dries fairly quick, but bottom does not.

Any advice would be appreciated!!!!!

Azomax + Diatomaceous earth. Either will work well, together you knock out the adults and suffocate any eggs/larvae living in your medium. Azomax is "organic" but I wouldn't smoke it, spray that crap on liberally then do a 3 part bud wash once you cut her down:

30 seconds of mild agitation in a 5gallon Bucket with juice of 1 lemon and 1/4 cup baking soda, followed by the same in 2 separate buckets of pure H2O (from an RO or distilled). That would get most of any Azomax off after you harvest, and will have the added benefit of helping your crop dry more evenly and even a bit faster sometimes. The cleaner the plants leaves, stems, and especially stomata, the faster it will dehydrate once hung to dry.

I bud wash all of my crops now and the smoke is about 200% smoother and tastier than a dirty plant covered in dust and debris. No loss of potency or trichomes if you're gentle and methodical.

Will give that a try. Might not be able to get it soon, because of holiday week, and would have to order, this time of year. Have some Gnat Nix on its way, but that is not good for AF's, since it is considered long term control, and not for larvae (it is ground up glass barrier).

This is what I have been looking at How To Kill Fungus Gnats With Hydrogen Peroxide - Sick Plants and Problems

I will try your method, when I can!! Do you know if it will effect myc?

Thanks!!!!

Shouldn't affect the myc, the DE is a natural silica based sand really...little 2 celled fossilized sea-algae organisms. Adds a nice little shot of Si to your grow if you don't already use a silica product.

Was concerned about the Azomax, effecting Myc. Have some silica powder I bought a while back, from kelp4less. How much per gallon would you suggest?

Thanks Again!!!!

Just tried the cinnamon and the adults left immediately. Worried about it hurting myc. Might scoop off top layer after a day or so, then water. That article says that Great white and Ancient Forest have stuff to kill off larvae.

Diatomaceous earth top layer for larvae , its super cheap , i buy food grade for ridding my dogs/cats of worms , we can also eat it to kill parasites in our bodies

best of luck

peace

Found this info on another site -

3 applications 3 days apart with azamax or neem cake tea will eradicate them and having crab meal and or neem caks in ur soil prevents them from breeding at all.

Azamax is expensive and is highly concentrated neem.

Do not confuse Azomax, which is hard surface cleaner, for bacteria, although it is very eco-friendly.

Used flypaper and it has over a hundred, in 24 hours. Vinegar traps did nothing. Sprayed all with H2O2 1 to 4 parts water, on surface coir. Today put down potato slices and not one larvae was on any of them.

Have DE, Crab Meal, and Neem cake due this week.

Looked at one under microscope, and appears to be dark winged fungus gnat.

I re-used coir that had some roots in it, which is probably what they are after.
