Indoor Germinating Dutch Passion Strawberry Cough

there both mostly sativa which is a huge plus for me...I LOVE SATIVA haha one of my fav. is orange haze... I just acquired some OH seeds from attitude finally they were back in stock and my friends dad grows it but will not part with any clones... That's why I was bum'd out my Acapulco gold seeds didn't germ. because he was going to trade with me on it

Sounds like you have an abundance of knowledge to draw from, that is awesome. Kinda sketchy, the guy won't part with any clones though, that sucks. I am not a big Sativa fan myself, I tend to prefer heavy duty indica but my wife loves the ups so I grow mostly Sativa dominant. I am about to change that up though, I have been perusing the Indica aisle at several of the seed banks lately. Thinking of an Afghan Kush or Lavender is in the near future.

kush is good. My wife likes the indica. im growing og13 right now, never smoked it but sounds good.... I just get bad anxiety when I smoke a heavy med. he just doesn't want anyone having his cuts. there is a lot of people around here like that but he is will to trade for a a.gold too bad mine didn't take

im not breeding the SC with a auto its getting bred with a blue dream and also doing a blue berry headband
My point is just to say that breeding with fems instead if regs muddies your gene pool. More selection required to sort through the hermies and mutants. You will also get a more reliable genetic line avoiding inbred plants as mothers...that's why DJ Short uses as close to landraces as possible for his P1's. By comparison most people call Subcool a pollen chucker because he makes polyhybrid X polyhybrid crosses instead of line breeding to isolate traits.

I am not trying to argue with you about it as I have little knowledge about breeding and the science of it....Do you know if there are any SC regular seeds available. attitude does not carry any but not sure about others... I guess I could just do my MOB ''mother of berries'' with the Male BD if that would be ok. MOB is a maine native clone only strain that originated close to where I live. I am no expert on what it came from cant seem to get any straight answers about it. It also has a very fruity berry taste while growing and after being cured. And while smoking it, it has a very thick dense berry smoke might compliment the BD very well.... This will just be a one time thing I wont be getting rid of any just grow a couple my self and see what happens. When I learn more about the science of it I will do more serious breeding as you are talking about.. but for now will just take my chances on it for shits and giggles...So will the clone only female be a better way to go then a female seed like SC?

You could try these strains if you wanted a comparable hybrid to Strawberry Cough that's not feminized...FYI the DP SC is Erdbeer X Unknown Indica. So if you go after anything with Erdbeer (Ierdbei alternate spelling) you'll be getting the same genetics DP used when they created the seed mother. It won't be the same plant, but it will be very very close. Basically feminized seeds come from selected regular plants...the seedbank finds a great keeper mother, then instead of hitting it with pollen, they hit it with CS or STS and get feminized seeds, hence why you can sell seeds and claim they're a good approximation of the mother because there's no foreign male DNA to change the plant significantly. Statistically, you should be able to take a full crop of S1's and find something almost identical to the mother if you were to select through a bunch of beans. When you cross with a male and make reg seeds, you get all kinds of new traits from the fresh genetics. This is why feminized seeds are such a boon for the seed business and such a rip for customers. They charge twice as much but the seed companies only have to keep 1 cut of 1 plant lying around to keep making seeds forever. The breeders at the top of their game like T.H. Seeds, Mr. Nice, or DJ Short generally recommend and keep regular cuts around because the seeds they sell are from the original mother and father of the famous plant that the strain is named for. An example of this is Mr. Nice Seeds' "Black Widow". Those seeds are the product of the original Brazilian and Indian parents crossed together...Shantibaba has kept clones of his original P1's around since the 90's. Compare that to Dinafem that has 1 cut of 1 kind of White Widow that they just grow out and spray with CS whenever they want to make seeds. Not saying it's a horrible method, but it cuts down on the companies' operating costs and yet they double the price. oh well, I have plenty of fem seeds lying around, and I've never tasted homegrown I didn't love, but for a complex breeding project I'd start with one of the plants listed below. Also don't forget, that if you truly want a winner strain at the end of the day, you need to sort through more than just 1 or 2 potential parents...most agree that 10 plants is the minimum to find a "jackpot" phenotype...once you do that, you hang on to it and pick another strain and run a few grows until you find another "jackpot" phenotype. You cross those two phenos, you've probably got something special, or at least enough seeds to look for something special. If you just chuck pollen at any old plant whose name you like, you're not really improving a strain, you're just mixing it with something else that might not complement the high/yield/ease of growth/potency/flavor/terpene profile/etc.

I know a lot of that sounds like crapping on your parade, but that's my thought on breeding. Another option would be to find a plant you're dying to try (for me it's Azure Haze) and grow as many plants in a small-scale SOG as you can...pick the best mom and best dad from the bunch, then start breeding what's called an IBL...basically you inbreed until you stabilize/refine your strain, then throw it back against a mom or dad or even another "jackpot" cut just to refresh the gene pool and help eliminate any significant weaknesses you might have induced by inbreeding. A properly bred IBL is a thing to behold...
