New Grower Got a new 2'x4'x5' tent, would like to see tent pics of yours, mainly passive intake exhaust etc.

Ok, you'll have to use one of the upper ports to duct the air in because you will never fit a 4" through the 1 lower intake hole. That's my only complaint with this tent. It should have at least a 4" intake hole at the bottom, if not 2 or 3.

yup....good to know, that's how I had envisioned it preliminarily any way:) There isn't going to be ANY access to the back of the tent in my closet application....

Trapper did you have a plan as far as what type of inline fan you were going to use? I'm almost wondering if I could have got away with one of those cheap inline 6" booster fans but I don't know how that would work with the carbon scrubber. I don't really need stealth but I do think it would make the bedroom unusually smelly (already smells like weed all the time without anything growing in it lol)

This tent thing is new to me, I'm used to using a bedroom...

Two problems with using the inline duct/booster fans. First they are low CFM . A 6" inline is only rated at 160 CFM, and thats whats called "open" cfm. Meaning with it not hooked up to anything. They are designed to put in a furnace duct, near a floor register to boost the output a bit. They don't have the power to draw thru a filter, nor to push air thru those corrugated ducts, which have a high air resistance. You really need a "can" style fan. also those duct fans aren't really a whole lot cheaper than a can fan. $25 more gets you a fan capable of doing the job. I'm all for saving a buck, but you have to be careful to not end up spending twice as much to fix what ya "saved" on! Believe me, I've made that mistake too!

Carefully cur a bigger whole in it and sew some window screen over the opening ( You can sew right? lol ). You can velcro whatever material over the outside of the opening to block light.

So either a passive intake and inline fan pulling out -OR- a lower pressure fan pushing air in and a higher cfm fan pulling it out?

That's how I run my other grow room. It's 2 5'x8' spaces in a bedroom with 2kw HPS in each. They use a can fan only too cool the lights. Then I have a 4" duct fan for intake and a more powerful 6" duct fan that does the exhaust. Works well in those rooms. I was trying to avoid running 2 fans for this little tent.

That's why I ultimately got the active air with a Variac. I'm hoping I can run the fan at lower speeds constantly and still get proper air exchange rather than timing it to empty the tent every 5 minutes at full speed. In my other grows I didn't even use a scrubber as it vented out the roof into the atmosphere in the country. I'm new to scrubbers.

So, variac at 40 volts, with the Vipar 600w, 25' duct run (don't want to cut it until I know what I'm doing, and it's all coiled up in the room) My tent is sticking at 75f and thats in summer. I'm stoked  Much less work and electricity than HID so if the light performs I'll be more than happy.

This is with the light running for a few hours solid without opening the door at all etc. just letting the light run full boar.

Nice...gives you a good baseline and wiggle room either direction I imagine (temp-wise).....:) Good to know! ;)

I ordered the rest of my stuff today, should have plants in and ready to go next weekend or so
