It's time to add circulation and ventilation. I have four 12 volt .25amp computer case fans. I need to get a ac/dc power adapter to drive all four with the single power source. I may want to drive two and two later separately. Can anyone give me recommendations? I know it has to be 12 volts, but what amp and/or watt would I need? My baby girl needz some air! :hot:

Contacted a company called PowerStream in Utah and got my answer. For all you DIY'ers with the same question, the voltage of course needs to match your fan(s). In my case, 12 volts. The amps required are a sum of the amps of each fan, at a minimum. In my case, .25amp x 4 = 1.0amps or .25amp x 2 = .50mps on the minimum sides. You cannot "over-amp" your fans, as the amps rating is the maximum "draw" from the total available. You could, of course, under-amp which would result in running at a slower rpm. Hope this helps others as it has helped me.

i run mine with stronger amps but my ac/dc converter allows me to switch from 6v to 6.5 etc etc to 12 v...I increase the amps but lower the volts for higher cfms, but not sure it this will work with all fans.....i took apart old pcs and i have one 80mm fan thats way way more pwerful than my two 90mm fans put together....it has a reading draw of .42A and i have running to a 2.5 Amp ac/dc converter its probably at the same strength than my tower fan for my room. thanks for your post bro thought id share some results from my trials and experiments...hav a good one

hey mate,

There are adapters for computer-accessories on the market. the ones I use are

Digitus usb 2.0 to ide/sata adapter cable DA-70148-3

they got a perfect wiring for fans/fan controllers and do their job quite well

just search ...if you can't get exactly that, you at least have a clue what could fit :-)

add a fancontroller to it, and you're done...perhaps have a look at my threads ;-)

Cheers
