Greetings brothers and sisters, and thanks for joining me "AFN smoke out"

I've been absent for some time now, busy with life and such, or maybe life was busy with me? Anywho my life is somewhat at a calming pace for now. I've taken about 6 months off from growing since my last harvest. And I havent had an actual journal in years it seems. SO here I are and now I'm ready to have some fun again!

Alright so now on to what im doin here. I have been growing a strain name Mental Floss (breeder is Chimera) for about a year or so now. I did some pheno hunting and I found myself a grade A plant to my liking. Her smoke is just so unique and great for my mind/body/and soul that I just fell in love with her. SO I grew her clones a couple times and then I decided that I wanted to try and make some femenized seeds off her and do some more pheno hunting within her genes. I found a good specimen to try and I decided that I would run some clones off her, I've never smoked this one before so its a shot in the dark now. This one pretty much resembles the original mother to the T. I'm hoping this one may have a little more potency in her and a little more flavor comes out.

My clones are a week and a half old today. I'm running 8 clones all are mental floss. I seem to be having trouble with a few of them for some odd reason. Some are having magnesium def I think. I sprayed some foilar spray with epsom salt today to hopefully fix this problem. Weird thing is not all plants are having this problem. This is my first time running clones so I'm learning alot of things along the way.

Im using straight coco in 1 gal pots. I have a 17 gal res on a timer, and as of now im feeding 3 times a day for 30 seconds, in a week I will probably bump up to 4 times a day. Feeding at 700ppm and I did get a slight nute burn.

I have 2 - 6 lamp t5 fixtures, 4 plants under each light. Lighting is at 24/0 right now. These are PHOTOPERIOD seeds, just so we are clear .

So tonight I decided that I would bump them up to 6 feedings a day at 30 seconds. I bumped up to 4 feedings a couple days ago and it didnt seem to make much of a difference. They are drying out and drinking fast, this is why I dont use any additives such as perlite because It would be to fast and make watering cost to much. I'm noticing that clones tend to grow at a much faster pace than from seed. Already they are touching each other and they span the width of the light, so growth seems to be great thus far.

I will also note, that I recently purchased a aeroponic cloner. And I LOVE this little thing. I put 8 test subjects in for my first try. 4 of them dipped in cloning gel that came with the cloner, and 4 that were not amended with anything. I used my faucet water (90ppm). At exactly 1 week they all started to form roots at the same time. SO I think this thing works absolutly great, I highly reccomend for cloning.

I'm happy to say that after 2 days of spraying with epsom salt and water, I am noticing a huge difference in activity and drinking. They seem to be doing great, and from now on I'll be adding 15ml of epsom salt to my res. I've never had this problem before with my coco. This is a new batch I got from botanicare, it was a compressed bail. I always wash my coco before use, but now I'm thinking I may have made it worse. When I washed the coco it came out clean the first time, so im assuming this may be my fault. My buddy just bought a bail as well and says he is having mag problems. SO coco heads be ware when using botanicare compressed.

Hey dudes whats up. I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Cooler temps are on the way for me so the week can only get better.

So last night I decided that I want to put a scrog net over the girls. Just like their mother, they tend to grow all their branches up to the same height, but the main stem stretches like a mofo in flower. So this go around, I've decided that I will get maximum light exposure for my t5's and at the same time nip the tall branch and allow the others to have the extra energy. I topped all 8 of my clones tonight.

Tonight marks 2 weeks old for my clones (i mark that 2 weeks from noticable growth of clone). They are approx 12 inches tall and about the same wide, 2 weeks ago the were 4" tall :Growing:. I am still feeding 6 times a day for 30 seconds at 650 ppm and they are loving it. I plan to let them go another 3 weeks and then flip to flower, each should have about 1 sq foot of space with the net. Only bad thing about these t5's is the small foot print. Soon I shall be in the market for a better light, or atleast another t5 fixture. I must admit the low temps are very nice compared to my 2 600w hps.

Hey whats up guys. I havent had much interaction with the girls the past few days, so I figured I would take some progress pics.

Everything is going great so far. After I topped all my girls, the next day I came back and defoliated the crap out of them. They were long over due for some trimming to allow light past the canopy and allow the lower branches to shoot up. I also trimmed all lower branches and leaves that were never going to make it to the light. My girls never once showed signs of slowing down after being topped. I'm very happy with my choice to top them, as it has greatly improved the canopy to make them all even. The screen is slowly starting to fill up with more and more tops every day. :drool:

They are still going steady on 6 feedings a day at 30 seconds of 650 ppm. I am feeding grow, silica, cal-mag, and a root stim. It must be hitting the sweet spot because they are just growing like crazy and so happy. I can already tell the pot is full of nice healthy roots because just under the surface of the coco I can see some very healthy looking packed tightly roots. I'll try and get a good pic of the roots at the end of this week to see how everything is going. I am enjoying my new 17 gal res, it really only last me about a week or so, but man is it nice to set it and then not have to worry about PH swinging like crazy. After saturdays res change my PH has only risen .1 in 2 days, so a very pleased man I am. I find that if you can keep the temps stable, the PH will stay stable. When I have large temp swings my PH swings with the temps. I have also found that warmer temps make the PH go up and colder temps make the PH go down. Just my experience, but over the past few years it has stayed a true statement.

Hopefully everyones week will be nice and peaceful. Unfortunatley I have to work, so my bud will be close by my side to aid in the everyday grind. Take care and I'll update at the next eventful happening. :stylez rasta smoke::Growing:
