Well to begin I'm blessed with being able To grow almost year round except for December and January. My problem lands in the growth of my girls during mi mod July thru September, during these times daytime temps avg the high 90s to the low 100s from 12 noon till about 4pm. So to combat this I built a pvc pipe arch over the top of my grow area. Now, I have a shade netting at 50% shade that I pull over the arch to shade my plants from 12 noon till about 400pm. So the girls will get the morning sun from 700am till 1200 noon. They then are covered from 1200 noon till about 400 pm. Then the girls will get the afternoon sun from 400pm till about 830pm every day during these months. Now also the humidity during these months will be from 70-85% daily. Now with that said this coastal area is blessed with 15 to 20 mph winds with gust around 25 mph. Daily. So I don't have any problems with airflow girls are in the perfect spot for optimal sun and wind flow. Anyone got sugestinons on strains and types of autos? I can grow supers which take 100-120 days or the ones that take 6-8 weeks. Looking for something worth my time producing at least 1-2 oz. Any suggestions? And thanks in advance. One love

I'd think Durban Poison would have no problems with the heat due to its African genetics. Honestly I would try some plants without shade. Given adequate water I doubt there would be any problems. Without a doubt there will be some more strain specific replies incoming. Good luck bud.

An after thought on Durban poison...I do remember that it might not be the most mold resitant strain though. There's a couple of aussie grower here that could probably help you with strain choice.(though they may not have the humidity you do) @Henco @Vas Deferens

Thanks for the info and let me know what you find out

@hecno is the man to speak to re humidity, he's in the tropics

Ahh when I flagged him I made an error in the spelling of his name. Thanks Vas

don mate , I am 15 to 16 lat south coastal , I have not tried a lot yet outdoors , the one in the photo is auto amnesia , now don't judge by the photo as this poor girl has had no loving at all , she has been left to fend for herself most of the time , before she started to flower she battled 3 weeks of rain , but she is a tough old girl , at the moment where she is at the temps are 30 to 32 c , the photo is mid day , after seeing how well she has done I am starting to think she would do well in the tropics , more so with a bit love love and care . Can't remember how old she is but has to be at least 9 weeks old and still has a way to go yet . I would look for the more Sativa dominant plant if I was you and I think you will find auto's will take longer outside .

Thanks for the info hecno. Really appreciate it iam at 12 north live in south padre island Texas. What do you think about my set up with putting shade cloth up during the hottest 4 hrs of the day where temps eclipse 33-35c and 75-85% humidity. Yet we have good wind around 30-40km per hour 15-25 mph daily. So with that info and the shade cloth could it work. Do you have a soil recipes that works well in hot areas. Do I even really the shade cloth or can the plant Handel it

Hi don, sounds like you have some really nice outdoor conditions for most all year. It gets super hot in southern Oregon here and the med grows do great like Trees outside.

There is a thread on AFN about vapor pressure deficit (plant ease of respiration relative to temp vs. humidity).
Long and short of that is that with high heat, high humidity is ideal. Sounds nice with the wind blowing about like you describe!

Yeah, maybe worry about the plants that are finishing that month(s) if they're dense indicas... schedule the year so the hot months are veg time.

I really like the suggestion for sativas from @hecno , those strains are native to the equator, which is both hot and humid across the board. There's lots of auto strains available now that incorporate those genes.

Silicon supplements like Silica Blast and such would be recommendable to increase stem thickness and durability to withstand heat and they are common and pretty cheap as far as nutes go, almost every manufacturer sells them. They will harden your plants off from heat stress and make the stems burly strong.

I think the weather conditions you describe sound excellent for germing and vegetating new plants.
Just adjust your grow calendar a little and time the season to your advantage... ? :pass:
