Indoor Growing Scrog

I'm not a defoliation expert but since every minute matters with autos I just went for it. I took a handful of leaves mainly the ones growing back towards the center of the canopy. Is this too much stress or a bad move at this stage?

Sorry for so many questions. I've only got one harvest and 6 months of growing under my belt. I have been educating myself a ton in that time tho.

This is such a unique strategy along with some "unique" knowledge that I want to learn as much as possible.

Edit: I know this is 420s thread but I appreciate everyone elses help as well.

I wish I could tell us both why some autos runt out like yours has, Gas. Around 30% of the ones I've grown have, all different breeders and plants, identical conditions, same tent. Looks like your plant is Indica dominant? If yes, there's that. I've done a lot of research on inducing longer stems in plants, have already posted it here on 420's thread. Someone posted a long summary of the available research on the subject, not many pages back in this thread, which covers everything I found. ... Here's a typical example of what has happened for me, too many times. FastBuds: Gorilla on the left, Mexican on the right. ( Also, these plants were fed 'flower' amount of red light from the borrowed fixtures, because I couldn't figure out how to change the settings to get mostly blue light when they were in veg. The Gorilla took 54 days to pre-pistil.) I do not know ...

Your pic is going to be me in a few weeks. Lol. The inconsistencies with autos is one of the things I don't like about them. These two are the same strain, same seed pack, and have had the exact same conditions. They are indica dom but the difference in the 2 is crazy. The taller one is more than twice the height of the other.

I'm sure mine will be pathetic compared to what yours is gonna be; but here's a galaxy brain I grew earlier this year. Good smoke, has kinda a lemon/lime/haze smell and taste. Grown in 1 gallon straight coco with floraflex nutes and no training:pass:

Beautiful @JP1!
She turned out nice. :eyebrows: Can’t wait to see mine flower.

And I think I the big stash is largely responsible for the lackadaisical attitude by the way.
I get that way too. I was just surprised you shut it all down during a grow.
I have a hard time culling plants.

18/6, 35 day veg from a clone, I run with athena blended, crop steering, sealed room with CO2, about 450w total light

Thanks 👍

This is my second grow this way. The first time I ended up with this

I can only get into the tent from one side but i can easily rotate the pot and have access from all sides

That is right but with only one plant it is still enjoyable and I can play with it ;) Your plants looks incredible and I have to try autos and your way 👍

I thought I saw one of your grows before. 👍
Great work my friend. :d5:

Day 27. FastBuds Tropicana Cookies. 32" tent. 1.3 EC, FloraNova Grow only. 6.0 pH.
45 DLI, 20-4 schedule. She's devouring nutrients. I wish she was a bit more leggy.
I'm doing everything I can do induce that attribute, including using strong red setting
on the light ( made for flowering ), and an elaborate set up to turn exhaust fan on when light goes off,
to get about 15 F temp swing. I was afraid that using the red light setting would push her
to flower too soon, as 420 has mentioned had happened to him, but no pre-pistils yet. I don't know.

Finally, I super cropped her waaaay before her time, only because I wanted to try it, and get over my trepidation.
When it's time to super crop her again at flattening time, if necessary, I will. Although she is already in one horizontal plane.

As always, many thanks to 420 for his advisements! :thanks:

She’s doing well @Mongoose.
Since she hasn’t showed sex yet she might be a good candidate for a rescrog or a double SCROG. Let’s see how tall your canopy gets in the next couple weeks.

Im having a similar issue with one of my plants but its hard to steer her due to 3 other plants sharing the place. This one is stressing me out with how compact shes growing. I dont know how she will scrog with such short branches. Im going to need custom squares for every branch. Its also day 20 so Im anxious about flower. Ive had bad luck with the previous 5 autos Ive grown flowering super early.

No worries @GasPlease!
Post whatever you want. We are all here to help.
They still have a long ways to go bro. Any pistils yet!

I think they look great. How old are they in the pic? Will you be scrogging both of them in the same tent?

@420autoflower they are on day 23. The taller one had first pistils yesterday and the shorter one should be showing pistils any day now.

The 2 plants in the front are just there until the net comes down. But yeah they will be scrogged together. My plan is to use a pot riser to boost the short one up even with the other.

Ok, thanks for the pics.
You still have time before the net goes down.

No worries bro. They still have a lot of stretching to go.
If you don’t plan on separating them it might be a little difficult scrogging both in the same tent. A pot riser won’t work well because you need the base of the stalks at the same level when you flatten them out. You can do it but you’ll be applying your HST a bit higher on your taller plant to accommodate the shorter one, which will sacrifice potential and overall yield.

I don't have another tent available to separate them. What should I do?

You said I have time before the net. Today is the 3rd day of pistils on tall one. I was going to drop the net tomorrow. What do you recommend?

Thank you @GreatWhite!
Glad you can respect the work involved to bring a 420 SCROG across the finish line.
It is a lot of work and the pruning is definitely the most time consuming. Got a little bit too much going on at the moment and barely keeping up with family responsibilities and my personal life.

Thank you @Corum59 🙏

Glad you finally made it over here @Kausk!
She sure turned out beautiful and deserves to be shown off.
A lot of nice peeps on this forum that can appreciate a good SCROG so hope you continue showing your grows here.
Thank you for sharing my friend. 👊

:yeahthat:

Welcome @Saint jimmy! :toke:
Always nice to see more growers here. A lot of valuable information on AFN and plenty of people around to help if you need it.
I messaged you earlier with a couple videos on how to make a DIY hydro system per your request. Please let me know if you have anymore questions.
O viously this is super late but I've been trying to find any kids like you reference, any chance you could send me some. I'm interested in the top drip and if you have any direction on frequency that would be great. Thanks brother

For frequency 420 suggests 4-6 times during a 24hr period depending on the plant. Assuming you are running your lights 24 hrs.
