I'm wanting to start some White Crack to grow outdoors. The climate should be hot and humid for another 45-50 days, then it should start cooling down and drying out some. I can put the plants under glass to protect them from rain if necessary.

Southeast US.
Do you think I can do it without any bud rot problems?

Thanks in advance.

I guess it depends on what you mean by drying out some...
Its not the rain as much as it is the moisture held in the air. Looking over the strain characteristics, I don't see mold issues listed, but high humidity, especially a climate that cools and gets moister during overnight, can be problematic. I've had issues indoors in a tent where I wasn't able to keep rH under 50%. That was a 4AM, (listed mold issues) but definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I had to move one outdoors about a month ago. She is now almost 6 weeks and still stretching. The thing I am most worried about with her is the dense buds she produces which can rot and mold with just high humidity. I have been spraying her with silica and neem oil in rotation. She is doing as well as can be expected for a true geurilla grow that I can only visit like every 10 days or so. If your climate is on the dry side you should be fine. Why not?

If you can tend to them daily and protect them from rain you should be able to get ahead of any bud rot. Neem oil, silica at a pH above 8, potassium bicarbonate at pH above 8 and Serenade along with beneficial bacteria or Em1 would all be helpful. Just don’t mix them all together. I have also been trying out peppermint oil soap as a pest deterrent and it’s working ok.

You can potentially grow any strain outdoors if you can maintain environment and have enough time. Southeast US should be warm long enough for most strains.

Thanks everyone, you gave me some things to think about that I hadn't considered. I've decided to go with Mephisto's SODK, it looks like it grows as an open sativa, and Stan the Man so graciously gifted me these seeds, so they are in the cd case on the heating pad as I type.
Thanks again!
