New Grower Healthy Plants, but weird splotches

Damnit! I was re-arranging and broke a fin off my big exhaust fan, reducing the amount of airflow. Now my temps have spiked to 86! My only choice in the short term is to unplug 2 lights. :(. Just another excuse for me to construct a new box!

Well, some good news, some bad news...

Good News: Fan fins can be re-attached with super glue :P. I also was having some issues with plant placement and leaves catching on my fans sometimes. So I was able to find some grill covers to put over the fans. No more leaf eating fans. Airflow came back up and stabilized my temps back to where they were, so I was able to turn my other 2 lights back on. More light for development of big buds! Although no different PH meter, my other one (which is a Sunleaves brand) bounces rapidly between 6.5-7.0, so averaging this out I'm going to "estimate" that soil PH is about 6.75.

Bad News: Partly because of unfamiliarity with the new nute line, and also probably the higher heat for a day with my fan out of commission, caused more rapid nute absorption. My biggest plant started to show burn (yellow tip ends), and today I spotted 2 dying fan leaves on the very very bottom from the first node. Today was water/feed day so I did do another flush of 2 gallons per plant with nothing but plain water instead of feeding like I normally was scheduled to do today. I'll be keeping my eyes on them closely for the next few days and make sure that they don't progress any further with burn.

Still learning and adapting to changes as I go. My biggest plant though is such a beauty. She's my pride and joy! Hopefully I caught this soon enough! I've been so busy with work that I haven't been able to tend to them as much as I would like. But I now am on 4 days off, so I will be able to monitor them much more closely for the next few days.

Now that I'm starting to get a much better understanding of the plants, I think it's something I can learn and actually get good at. So at some point in the near future I am going to build a larger cabinet so that will allow me to grow 3 plants at a time in 5 gallon pots. Plus a better airflow design for the cabinet, probably with a proper carbon scrubber and ducting. At this point I know that this hobby is worth investing some more time and money into :).

Looking good bubble-k! I get all my stuff online but ive heard from friends about the awkward first trip to the hydro shop.

"So your growing tomatoes, indoors, in the middle of summer are you?" Haha!

Looks like it worked out pretty well for ya though! Ill be following your grow, bro. Did you notice any effects on your plants after that heat spike when your fan broke?

Tell me about it! Between the plant nursery and the 'dro shop, I started to feel like I was being interrogated in a real passive-aggressive way! I started blaming shit on my moms, my fiancé, then grandma... according to my story, all the women in my life are newly interested in gardening, but I'm the only one that ever shops for the supplies!

Thanks bro! Yeah, high heat increases your nutrient uptake, so it nute burned my plants a bit :(

The good news, is that so far, 12 hrs later, there is no progression of burned leaves. Crossing my fingers she stays that way!

Haha me too! When I went to a local store to pick up my initial supplies, I took it one step further, I wore my old ring and blamed everything on my "wife" that I don't have lol. I told them I had no idea what she was growing, she just gave me a list and told me to go get the supplies.

LMFAO! The ring! No you didn't dig out the old ring! That shit is too funny!

Lol you can never be too careful!

When I read about the ring, I immediately had the image of a guy in some crazy, obvious as hell disguise, hiding under the huge brim of a hat, looking shifty, as he stood at the counter making his purchase, with a guilty, uncomfortable look on his face! :crying:

Haha yeah I think it would be pretty darn obvious what I was growing if I went in. I definately fit the steriotype. ;)

Hey what's up guys? Today is day 43 and just thought I would toss out a quick update. I have not seen any more progression to their nute burn since I flushed them. However, since I flushed them some more purple stems came up, as I didn't give any feed after flushing and she needed some phosphorus. Yesterday was feed day and I gave them 2 TBS of BB and 1/2 tsp Kelp Bloom nutes. (Both at half strength). So far today looking good! Judging from faded's grow of this same strain, I would guess that the buds will get about twice as big in the next 10 days. Looking forward to this harvest!
