Hey everyone,

Humming Bird here :tiphat:,

Just Wanted to stop by and say hello. I'm here to learn more than teach, but I'll be happy to share results (good or bad) once I've started my first Auto grow.

I came here because I just couldn't find any substantial info on how to raise autos using the most basic of setups (100W UFO LED grow light, Coco plus, Canna A+B Nutes, Canna Cal and Canna Mag, hand watering 1-2 gal pots). The feeding schedule is a big mystery to me seeing as my only experience is with Photo sensitive grows.

But I'm confident in the help I will find here and I will be more than happy to post for those beginners who are looking for the most basic (cost effective) grow journals.

Due to lack of space and budget, I tend to grow them short 1-2 gallon pots (55 to 70 cm tall in final plant height) So if you are looking for monster yields, I'm probably not your man.

Just here for the basics so I can get the best results with what I've got really. Hope my eventual journal can be of some kind of help to someone someday.

So that's me, pleased to meet you

All the best and happy growing everyone. :tiphat:

Hi Hummingbird - Welcome to AFN!

Welcome to AFN Humming Bird, looking forward to seeing your grow. Best of luck

Welcome, Humming Bird :)

Generally speaking, autos are more nute sensitive than photos so if you
have a photoperiod based feed schedule, just bump down to somewhere
between 1/4 to 1/2 strength and forge forward with an eye on the leaf tips
for nute burn. As you are running LED, you'll want to up the CaMg.

I'm a limited space guy myself, so I agree on the small to small/medium
plants. I'm not looking to get 7 or 8 oz. of ANY one strain.

Just give me 2-4 oz. off each plant and I'm a happy camper :)

Good Luck! What are you gonna grow first?

Cheers!

Trapper has said exactly what I was gonna say. He has a habit of doing that. Must be a wavelength thang! So all I can add is, WELCOME.

Enjoy your AFN time. eP.

Hey Trapper,

Nice to find a kindred spirit! It can be a little intimidating when you see everyone posting monster yield pics so it's cool knowing that one of the Pros is all about personal use quantities :smoke:Thanks for the feeding tips, especially the CalMag advice.

For my first auto I'm planning to grow a White Diesel Haze Feminized. It's apparently a very cheerful Sativa dominant hybrid (which will help me keep active and my mind off the pinched nerves and consecutive back pain I'm prone to) with a nice Indica couch lock finish (which should help when my old nemesis insomnia rears his ugly uninvited head)
:Ohmmm.......:
While I've got your attention, what are your thoughts on FIMing/ Topping Autos? I've done some research and while some agree it's worth it, others say it should be avoided as they do not react well. What's been your experience, if any? Also, since controlling final height using a change in light schedules is out, what kind of height do you think I should expect from an average sized auto in a 1 gallon pot?

Grateful for any wisdom you can offer.

Thanks and happy growing :tiphat:

Hey Humming bird!

I'm on my first auto grow also, it's actually my first Cannabis grow but I can tell you so far its been
quite simple. The Auto's really don't need much nutrients and from what I have seen so far, its best
not to trim at all, that's what i'm gonna do. I'm only on day 17 but everything is coming along nicely!

Looking forward to watching your progress!
