Outdoor Grow in TLO (no additional nutes) -30 gallon container.

Only plant affected thus far out of 20 +

First grow, and this particular issue really has me stumped.

Noticed this morning 2 tips on one leaf were necrotic.

Just looked at plant several hours later and it is spreading rapidly.

Thanks as always for the help.

Here are some pics.

You got me stumped as well, the only thing that came right to mind is the plant is nearing the end of its life? Is it even flowering yet? Miss all the hoop house pics! Would love to see how my crosses are doing for you! Take it easy brother and hope someone that knows pipes in soon.

Nute burn affects just the tips of the leafs. But I'm far from any kind of expert. sorry I'm not much of a help.... Yet.

hey StickMan if my outdoor grows looked that good i be tickled to shit. really id watch them but they look great to me.

Ok- I just went out and re- inspected the affected leaf tips through a jewelers loupe more thoroughly than before my first post.

Now I am even more stumped, as some but not all the underside of the leaves have what appear to be thrips or ? eggs. (small round white dots )

What perplexes me, is that is only on the tips of the leaves.

But again, I still going through the learning curve of experience with my first grow.:D

Oh, I also forgot to mention that I did spray all plants 5 days ago with Neem Oil-(early morning).

:peace:

Hey StickMan, that looks like nute burn to me. Did you recently feed and up your feed dosage? I am a little perplexed because looking at the other leaves that I can see, they look perfectly fine.

The small white dots you are seeing could be either thrip or spider mite larvae. You said you had neem oil and that is good but unfortunately it doesn't have any effect on the larvae. It only effects living insects and it breaks down quickly as well so unless you treated the soil with it I would suggest to continue spraying every few days to make sure that any larvae that hatch gets it as well. You can read a little about it here. http://www.discoverneem.com/neem-oil-insecticide.html

I don't think the insects are what is causing your tips to go brown though.

Hi Stickbro'! Just making a quick scan here, and caught this post,... so, you sprayed already w/ neem, ay?...Hmm, you say those tiny white dots are under the necrotic areas only? I don't think they're eggs, but seepage from pores (stomas) that has dried up (I've seen this on other plants too- get a toothpick, your lope, and poke at the white specks- if they smear, or crumble, it's as stated; if they have some structural integrity, are spherical or fall off whole, probably eggs); the cells in the dead tissue areas have ruptured and released contents into the extracellular space- something the fungi love! a nutrient broth basically, which is also why the symptoms are advancing quickly... so yeah, I think it's fungal,... I sure don't like the looks of the necrotic areas; they look 'wet', and the yellow margins on the lead edge is also suspect....spotting,... often, but not always, this fungal invasion is caused by tissues already under some stress.... since it's only at the tips,.... LOL! this is where things get uncertain to me.... tip trouble is almost always a nute' issue, but too much or defcnt.??? Stick, try another round of neem, or if you have a sulfur or Cu based fungicide, try that- they're a bit more aggressive, meantime, whistle up Mr. X to have a look... I'll catch up with you otherwise at my thread too, but I'm very curious about this as well....I'll be watchin'! :wiz:

Not to muddy the waters, but on orchids and other plants, some bacterial infections can cause similar symptoms, and neem won't do a thing, but the sulfur, maybe Cu too, will,... but this is more uncommon, so, we'll have to wait and see.... worst case fix, if it moves really quickly, is to cut the tips off well back from the infected areas with good, sharp, alcohol-dipped snippers. I've done this on all kinds of plants when treatments aren't working, or fast enough to stop rapid advancement of necrosis; seal the cuts with powdered sulphur (if you have it,... remember back a while ago I suggested to make a 'tempura paint-like' soln. of S plus surfactant, and paint it on the affected areas?... this stops 90% of the spotting on my orchids, which are often very prone to fungal probs in suboptimal conditions..!),; if you don't, let them dry out some in the sun, then treat with whatever fungicide you've got...
