I think this might be a deficiency of some sort. Mg?

Louise Day 12

Background:

They germinated on 1/18. Planted in organic soil with no additives/fertilizers.

Watered/fed on 1/26 with General Hydroponics nutrients as follows:

1.25 ml (which is 1/4th of the strength recommended by manufacturer) of:

BioThrive Grow
CaMg
BioRoot
BioWeed

BioMarine and DiamondBlack are optional nutrients that I decided not to use this time.

Water was left out for more than 24 hours to dissapate chlorine. Nutrients added to water. Water PH'd to 6.5. Plants watered around outer rim of pot, working inwards until about 3" from seedling. Emptied runnoff from containers.

Currently, temperature fluctuates between 68 - 85 degrees F. Humidity ranges from 40% - 70%. Must run himidifier to get humidity above 35-40%.

Lights - LED & two 40w CFL's - 20 hours
Four 40w CFL's - 4 hours

Help???!!!!

Looks like nitrogen def,I would go half strength on your nutes next feed and see it greens up a little, being organic it takes a little more time for plants to react to nutes

I agree with nam. Looks like your soil is dry to the bone too. You need to keep it moist for the plant to take up nutrients, especially at that age. No water in the soil means no nutrients available for the plant.

:smoke:..Hi 'Jane- I'm with my homies here too,... the color is rather pale, which smacks of N starving,... odd, to see so early in a soil,... what brand is it? This will help us look to see what it's got in it,.... as always, pH is of potential concern,... if you're using any Fox Farms or Roots Org., acidity issues have been common, sad to say,... N is, however, pretty robust in availability across a wide pH range, though at around 6.0 it gets restricted somewhat,... feed her, and we'll see,.. meantime, get us a soil pH reading if you can,....

Thanks Namvet! I will go to 1/2 strength for sure. This is the Big Buddah Cheese seedling. I fed the exact same to the TD in the room and she looks better.

A4,

I know it looks bone dry! I can feel the moisture about a 1/2 inch below the surface. I was going to let it go one more day before feeding/watering. You think I should just go for it now? Thanks for the input!

Thanks Waria,

The brand of soil is called Nature's Guide Organic.

The first watering/feed I had the water ph'd to 6.3. I will go up to 6.5 on next feed. I used 1/4 strength of these nutrients...I was planning on going to 1/2 strength at the next feeding, which according to Generall Hydroponics guide will be:

http://generalhydroponics.com/site/gh/docs/feeding_sched/GH_GeneralOrganics-SubCulture.pdf

Does that sound reasonable? The GH directions say adjusting the PH is not necessary after adding the nutrients, but I did anyway and adjusted it to 6.3 before feeding. This time maybe I should get it into the 6.5 - 6.8 range?

And like A4 said, water a little closer to the plant?

Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it!

Jane

I watered/fed tonight with 1/2 the recommended strength of the GH grow box nutrients.... We will see if the extra N solves the problem

Hi Jane -- looked up your soil, which is a peat free blend, with coco,... from what info I could get, it doesn't look "hot" (really nutrient rich, which is good-- auto's generally dislike hot soils),... so go ahead and fert' at 1/2 strength,... it's great you're pH'ing water and feed, and you have them in a good zone- granted we don't have actual soil pH readings, which would tell us more exactly where to tweak things to (more or less acidic),...that is of greater importance,... If you can swing it, get a highly recommended unit called Accurate 8 soil pH probe... this tests the soil directly, not run-off fluids... that method I don't like because of so many potential sources of error,... It'll pay for itself many times over, trust me- it has a built -in moisture meter too! ...yeah, often, the top layer will dry out faster than lower levels, so water carefully, so as to not sog-out the bottom zone,... what kinda pots are you using?-- plastic, fabric,..?

Waira,

Thank you for the info! Ifed/ watered at 1/2 strength all of the nutrients recommended in the Go Box. It seems to have helped. Here is Thelma (big Buddah Cheese - Indica) after feeding:
