Been around here lurking and soaking up, and thought it was time to register myself.
Been growing for 5 years, mostly photo but last 2 years trying out autos now and then, beans from Greenhouse, Dutch Passion and Royal Queen.

I run 3 tent with mh and his, but have decided enough is enough with silly electric bills so decided to switch to LED, after convincing myself they are up to the task and will save a Bob or 2 in the long run.

I usually run 12/12 with photos from start to finish, with autos stuck in there, and this has been working OK for the autos, especially the Dutch Passion varieties, recently pulled off 238g dry from an ultimate going 97 days, sharing a tent with SOG skunk#11. Not up with best grows, but decent enough for me.

I grow in soil, biobiss light usually but I like to fool around and try different types and things. I like to mix in some montmorillonite clay, about half a pound to a 30 liter air pot, mates call me Clay all the way, so there you have the reason for my username. I find it helps retain moisture and there is some good minerals and stuff in it, works OK for me.

I have already picked up some good knowledge here and hope I can make a small contribution myself every now and then.

Cheers

Hello Montmorillonite! Welcome from my part! By the sounds of it you really do some serious growing and I am looking forward on seeing any future grow diaries with your new led grows. May I ask what LED did you end up getting? I am all about DWC myself even though I consider myself pretty nooby about most things growing. I just get the basics and still learning a lot.

I think 238g dry with anything is awesome. Congrats on that. I have two ultimates under one HS1 in small space and after a week I turn them to flower. I wish I would get atleast 100g of them...

Hello Monty, and welcome to AFN! Drop by the introductions section when you have time.

Impressive yields man! I've only heard that autos don't do very well at all under 12/12 but 238g?? Whoa!
Can't wait to see you get to it! Please make a journal!

Welcome dude sounds like you've aready got things on lock

check out Mars hydro ll there decent leds

Hi Clay,

guessing you are UK(saving a few bob!) The LEDs are the way to go imho. Low heat, low leccy bill, full spectrum and full fat cream. Whats not to like.

Thanks for doing an intro and good growing pal,

eP.

Hi

Thank you all for the warm welcome

thank you. I haven't switched just yet. Still looking into LED and what to get. It is a massive change for me and the cost is high. I always have something going on in the tents, not really intensive as I get enough to cover a family member who is the reason I started growing. I don't smoke much myself and I don't sell. It might sound strange, but I also don't give it away because this will create just as much unwanted attention and talk., so I make some oil and hash for medical. the LED is a massive outlay to cover 3 tents, one is 150x300 and the other 2 is 120x120, I use them mostly for clones, germination and vegging. To grow successfully I like to have the best equipment, and just to cover the large tent is a heavy order. It is quite a jungle the LED scene, but I like the Grow northern light from what I have seen here, but cost is high. There is a few other brands I like so still in the research phase.

I thought I was in the introduction section, am I posting in the wrong place?didn't really expect much with the 12/12 schedule for autos, but it has worked well, and I found a grow journal in the hydro forum where a gas lantern schedule worked well, so it is not just me. Maybe it would be even better with longer light period, who knows when there is no control.

Welcome to the forum MM :)

thank you

Welcome to AFN, MM :) Looking forward to sharing your grow journals, and hanging in the forums!
Tokes to you!

I will get something up, but I don't like posting pictures. Had a mate that got busted when a friend of his was being squezed by the bill, who told then about his postings on another forum. With the pictures he wasn't able to deny anything. There is always I think some give away in pictures, but we'll see.

thank you. I can say I don't have anything on lock, the plants have me on lock. They tell me what they need, and most of the time I understand what they are telling me. It takes awhile and some grows, and only my own experiences gave me this understanding, not what I read on the internet and in books. I'm not saying that is not valuable, but nothing beats going through a grow and listening to the plant in my opinion. I don't really follow feed schedules as, the plants make them up for me and I like to try different brands, the usual fooling around.
I was lucky when I started growing that I knew a guy who had been growing for many years, and he is the only that get in my grow tent, his knowledge and way of growing helped me no end and we still bounce ideas and knowledge off each other. Without him it would have been a longer journey, thanks mate.

Yes, I have looked at the Mars Hydro LED, just hoping there will soon be some more info on the Sun series. It looks like they perform well, so they are on the shortlist.

Yes, in the UK, guess I gave myself away lol.

I hear what you are saying about LED, what not to like, the deep breath needed before the plunge lol

cheers
