Home made liquid seaweed .

I'm not sure how long it is good for, but the npk (w/e it is) will always be there. As far as the rest of the goodies I'm not sure. You could always run some through a bubbler so it gets some fresh O2, and do a test run on a random weed or something. If the weed dies, dump it, if it lives, try a small sample on one of your ladies. Take care.

BTW I like the new avatar!

So I was feeding my ladies this morning, and when I looked down in to my stoned hand.... I had a bottle of KELP! :haha:
Ironically there is no dates printed on it. Not a made on, or expiration date. This bottle is ~6mo old too, and Buddha knows how long it sat on the shelf before I got it. I'm going to write pennington, and see what they have to say. I'll post their answer here. I would guess you are fine to use it, but now I really want to know the answer too.

Did you do like a fermentation, or how did you make it?

NPK are all elements and with out physical interaction (particle accelerator, radioactive decomposition) they will always be there. To the best of my knowledge (i'm typing with that same stoned hand that found the kelp...) if you did a fermentation, then the lack of fresh o2 shouldn't matter. Being that fermenting it already puts it in a anaerobic situation. It would also help preserve the rest of the goodies in the seaweed. I've yet yo make my own liquid seaweed, so, that shit might not matter. I don't know.:pighug: Ramble ramble ramble... I'll let you know what they say about shelf life bud. Till later, take care.:smoking:

Okay my stoned hand also found this, might help.

Dear SWF:

I bought a gallon of your liquid Seaweed/Fish fertilizer and a bag of Seaweed Meal last summer. I had some left at the end of the season and put them in the basement for the winter. Are they still good and what is the shelf life of your products?

Andy B.

Usually the products have a shelf life of at least a couple of years, and often longer. Generally speaking, the liquid products are good for several years provided they do not become contaminated by some bacteria. This does not happen very often, and is generally the result of the user pouring back and forth between containers or other bad mixing habits. These liquids are nutrient-rich and provide “nirvana” like conditions for bacteria. One bacterium quickly becomes two bacteria that quickly become four bacteria, etc… and soon the bottle begins to bulge from all of its new guests and excess gas. Even after the bacteria moves in, the liquids are still good for your plants, but most people don’t like to use them as they now have a new odor and the bottle becomes unstable. If stored properly, the liquids should be good for several years. If the bottle has not bulged, then the product is probably good. I have access to the freshest liquids but I continue to use the many bottles and pails I have taken home over the years.

I use Seasol which is a commercial seaweed brew. It seems to keep for a few years in hot and cold climate.

I just did a quick Google search and found this
I was surprised that:
  • Adding water start microbes(I guess the minerals found in the tap water...RO water probably then no good)
  • Only good for a day or two
