Grow Mediums House and Garden COCO A & B in Autopot Rez? Or Go With Aqua Flakes?

Hey guys I am new to autopots, autoflowering and this forum. I have been trying to find a more relaxed way to handle my watering. Hand watering was fun but unfortunately I don't have the time to mix nutes everyday so I have decided to switch to Autopots.

With that said I currently own H & G Coco Nutes and I was curious if I should purchase the Aqua Flakes instead? I hear that AF lasts longer mixed but I am sure that's subjective and also the Autopot lines may get clogged unless I use the Drip Clean with the coco nutes. What are your thoughts? Should I go out and purchase AF or use up my Coco nutes first or go a totally different way with my nutes Like Advanced Nutes???

I used Organic Bio Bizz before and a buddy gave me his H&G Coco so I wasn't going to waste money on more nutes.

I am not that experienced at all so take this with a grain of salt. I started with Remo nutes but i struggled with PH and coco. Switched to AN Perfect PH Bloom Sensi A and B using Tangs easy or simple schedule. And two supplements -- Carboload and Overdrive when flowering comes on. So simple and cost effective. And the schedule seems to be bang on for auto flower plants so that part is taken care of for you. I have no toxicity or deficiency issues using this schedule. Using drip clean too. No clogs at all so far. And no PH issues in coco. And I have not used my PH pen or probe since I started using AN Perfect PH. Less stress for sure. And a lot of experienced growers say keeping the nutes simple is the best way to start. And the autopots add to the simplicity. I have two autopot reservoirs and 8 pots and the autopots do make things more relaxing. But you still have to hand water for the first 3 weeks before you turn on the res. But that hand watering becomes pretty easy in relatively short time. But you do have to be careful not to overwater those seedlings. I start in cups then transplant to the autopots. Water or moisture levels and coco is pretty damn important. Make no mistake about it. You might want to look at blue mat too, which I believe is a top watering system that uses a res.

And the Remo was free for me but if I can't grow well with it, and Tang's AN simple is pretty cheap, then its a no brainer. Personally if something was a gift or free but does not work for me, I'll just write it off and move on to something that does work.

Awesome advice! I wasnt sure what to use. Every store I go to they try to sell me a bunch of bs. When I have grown from soil with all organics and teas with great results. I look at AN and it really pisses me off how they have a million nutrients that do the same exact thing. While there is H&G and it's 4 bottles max and I hear you get great stuff. @bushmasterar15 thanks for the schedule! This will make my life a lot easier when deciding what to use for nutes. Honestly if the nute manufacturers made this simpler more people would buy their products. But I guess they do it on purpose to make more $$$.

I grow rockwool and use H&G Aqua Flakes the Coco is formulated for coco with lots less potassium. Aren't you in coco? Anyhow you can use Drip Clean with coco. Go out to H&Gs website they have a nutrient calculator that will recommend what you should be doing, easy peasy!

I have tried with and without Drip clean. I see no difference in "cloging". My lines are clear. After each cycle (80-95 days) I just pour some hot water through them with syringe. And that's it. Simple.

Drip Clean is a chelate that prevents the minerals from bonding and forming salt deposits that over time will clog drippers. It also prevents salt buildup in all medias and grows a "cleaner plant" or so the hype goes.

I run pressure compensating drip emitters to ensure even watering over the six Hugo blocks, drip clean does seem to keep them running smoothly.

In a blind taste test among some chef - friends I have; H&G won over Dyna-Gro 3 to 5 on the same varieties. Now I know that is a really small sample and a really subjective subject but H&G did win!

I guess it depends on which nutes you use and how long before flushing lines. As I said, I saw no difference.

I'm using coco as the medium mixed with large perlite in autopots. I thought if I mixed the coco and drip clean it shouldn't be a problem. But I like the ease of the AN that bushmaster posted. I wasnt sure if the HG coco would clog up the lines in the Autopot system.

Good to know. I will try it with the drip clean just incase the H&G coco clogs my autopot lines.

I hear about that a lot. A lot of buddies support it and one switched to hydro which is why he gave me the coco H&G. I'm going to try it with the coco first see how my grow goes and adjust accordingly.
