3rd when watering do i always make my water ph 6.5 using the ph up/down?

Hey JK, thats a real open question bro. I think you mean how do I test my medium pH? pH pens and probes are the most accurate.
If your medium pH is 4, whatever medium that is, I would say that is very low, like growing in lemon juice, well not quite but you get the idea.

Can you give more info? Do you have a journal, that is the sure fire way to get the help you need. Let ppl know what you have going on.

peace bro.

i havent tested anything yet im waiting for my probes to get here i just thought i would gather a little info. before i test my plants so that i know im doing it right the 1st time. i just want to be prepared. i dont want to mess my plants up

need more information on your set up. What medium you are using, light, pot size, the whole cha cha!! We then can better diagnose any problems and give a better, detailed answer to your question.

but to get you started, ph up or down should be used after you have added you nutrients and additives. you take a reading, if you need to go up or down, the ph adjusters go a long way meaning a few drops will change it pretty well. Let the solution sit for 10 minutes then take another reading. keep doing this until you get to your desired PH. DO NOT use both, being you added too much down and want to correct it with the up, use 1 or the other!!

im using 3 gal. pots my light is good old sunshine and im using just plain potting soil and montys 8-16-8 nutes. im so new at growing i have no idea what to do. ive read several journals and it looks alot more complicated than i thought.

nope, its easy peasy!! Since you are outside, the only thing you might want to do, is read up on the bug side on things. Outdoors you are prone to pests. Plain non ph'd water for the first week or 2, then 1/4 dose on your nutrients and you are off and running!! You got this man!! We are here to help, so don't worry, your in good company. I go indoors, but there are plenty of folks that can help. What nutrients are you using?

It doesn't have to be bro, plenty of ppl here to help but they need something to work with :) . Pictures help a lot. Those nutes will get you through veg and most likely flower too, but you could add some bits to help them along.

The main thing is how do they look, are you asking about pH because you have some yellow leaves, brown spots etc etc? If your plants look healthy, then why change anything you are doing, just add and make it better?

Yes, pH is super important-IMHO. A pH pen to test your solution and pH probe for your medium are a very sound investement. For future reference, guessing anything is a recipe for problems to occur. Know your medium, know your pH, know your nutes and try to read your plants, they will tell you with colors how they feel,

I've been there bro, keep the faith.

Dazed..
