I have a question about your co² setups. I want to keep my room as close to 1500 ppm as possible. I know this is a dream considering the 435cfm sucking everything out the 112 cubic foot tent. my thought is to administer co² during the 4 hours of dark each day. I would run my regulator at .5 cfh for 20 minutes at the top of each hour and turn the exhaust fan off for this time. Would it beneficially to continue this regiment during the hours of light. will this send my temps through the roof? Thanks in advance AFN!

Somewhat of a tech. question. Not much co2 supplementing with members. Someone may come along.

Rosenthal's grow books have comprehensive co2 info. And he discusses dark/light period in relationship to co2. Do a quick search and you may find some of his info.

Thank you. Is there a reason for the lack of co2 use amongst auto growers?

From my reading co2 can get complicated. Rosenthal dives deep into the subject.

Really, I think it is question of environment and scale of grows. Getting co2 into the grow area is not a problem for tents etc. Just the circulation does the job (if air is free to move in).

Big producers and those with sealed rooms or exhausting air are the ones that need to supplement. I recall reading about co2 and its relationship to light intensity (forgot the exact details).

In fact, it has not been a hot topic here. And have never heard of co2 issues. Some have used organic methods and co2 can be generated in others ways beyond a tank. Should be tons of info on the net.

Keep us posted

Yeah dude.ill give ya some info. Cannabis doesn't use co2 in dark period. Another reason I run 24 veg. I don't use those tents. I have full size room and use tank with reg and moniter. For a couple hundred you can get a moniter that keeps the room always at 1500. In your small space u should vent the light not the space. Otherwise its not gonna work cuz u are venting a lot. You didn't mention what lite u are using. The relationship of light to co2 is that as your light intensity goes up so does the plants need for co2. Like I said in another thread the plant needs higher temps to open the stomata to metabolize the increase of co2 you are giving them. You need 40 to 60 watts per square ft. Otherwise its a waste.

Thanks man Im running of yield master 6"air cooled hood with a 1000w hortilux bulb and a nextgen 1000w ballast directly exhausted by a 435cfm fan into a cone style carbon filter, coming into the tent i have 200 cfm fan. I am going to setup everything tomorrow and take pictures since i dont have class.

Thanks, I'll keep you updated, it makes sense that with the constant change of air that the levels suitable for the ladies. i need to do research before i decide, but i'm leaning towards trying it out (for science) since i already have the tanks and reg.

CO2 is useless at night. In fact, most CO2 controllers have a photo cell so that they only dispense CO2 when the lights are on. There are a variety of CO2 controllers available. The ones for use with HPS lighting have the capability of plugging your exhaust fan into the controller. They cycle the exhaust, then add CO2. As soon as the exhaust fan comes on again and pulls the heat, and the CO2 out, they then dispense more. Some will also allow you to plug in your air conditioner and heater. Complete environmental controllers. Unfortunately they are very expensive, usually $400 and up. I'm using CO2 with LED lights which allows me to run a closed room. I never exhaust. You could do the same thing since you have a cool tube. Pull exhaust from outside the tent, through the cool tube, then back out of the tent. Just use internal circulation inside the tent to keep the CO2 moving. That would also save on having to buy a full blown environmental controller. I run a closed room using CO2. It's controller with an Atlas 3 controller and generated by a Cap Gen2 CO2 burner. CO2 burners are a little more money up front, but will save lots in the long run. A 20 lb. tank of propane will last for months and is a lot cheaper than buying bottled.

Thanks muddy I am going to run this exhaust setup and invest in a controller. This is a much better idea than what I came up with after reading co2 is useless in the dark. I was just going to "prime" the room the last hour of darkness do as soon as the lights went the ladies were nice and gassy
