Bet there's some cool stories about this, Here's mine - Had just bought 6 acres in the boonies of N. Fla, had to travel 3 miles down 2 different dirt roads to get to my place - one neighbor a mile away-9 miles to nearest store - so i figure, finally, in a place safe enough i can grow a plant or 2 outside - was going thru a rough time back then(2011), my doctor sent cops to my place to do a welfare check, so i'm in my yard and here comes a cop up my driveway, gets out and while talking to me he glances over at my garden and see's 2 little plants - BUSTED! How to have avoided this - NEVER GROW IN YOUR YARD LIVING IN AN ILLEGAL STATE! A few more, Never Tell anyone, nobody, zilch, nada, one person will almost always mention it to another, and so forth, control the odor, dont let neighbors see lights on every nite all nite. I'm in a house now with a small basement and feel fairly safe long as i follow the rules.

I live like 30 minutes from old orchard Beach. It is a nice place. Unfortunately I'm in an island of prohibition. Surrounded by legal states.

My steps for staying low profile and off the grid as much as possible:

1) Use a VPN, plenty of free ones out there.

2) Buy a "burner" smartphone, pay cash. Pull the SIM card and only use it with wifi over a VPN. If it can be avoided don't connect to your home network, however, only access cannabis related sites, info, forums on said device. Keep your personal stuff clean. Don't check your personal email on your weed phone!

3) Pay cash. Don't use the ATM at the store you are buying stuff from ex: Target, Walmart

4) Visa gift cards for online purchases. Pay cash for them. The Visa ones from Target work well. Mastercard branded ones I have had issue with unless you log into a website and create an account. I only mention the Target Visa because it has worked well.

5) Be careful what you buy on Amazon. They are already creating a profile on you and they are linked up with major credit cards. Capital one reward points? Linked. Buy one possibly cannabis related item and you will have marijuana growing suggestions splashed all over your profile/account.

6) Be quiet. Be clean.


Burner phone tips. Android smart phones can be had for very cheap and they work well as a web browser. Look for ones with a removable battery pack. Alcatel has an AT&T phone for around $40. The SIM and the battery can be easily pulled. Put tape over the cameras. Front and back. Yes, little bit of crazy. Want the tin foil nice and tight? Don't turn it on in your house. Never connect it to your home network even for setup. Turn it off and battery out whenever it's going to be near or in your house. If it's on, it scans for networks and you can be profiled from common travel routes and wifi networks it passes by. Obviously someone would have to look for you to find this and use it but hey, if you want to be "off" then be "off".
