Gearing up for my first grow with Fox Farms Ocean Forest. Tested the ph right out of the bag and it sits at 5.9ph. I know that lime raises the ph, Ive always had to lower never raise. Just curious as to how much to mix in? What sort of lime? Or any other tips.

Im working with a 2.5 gallon airpot. Plan on adding in some perlite as well since Ive heard FFOF can stiffen up on you.

Thanks!

does moisture level effect the ph of FFOF ? I know when my handmixed soil is freshly mixed the ph is very low,but if I thoroughly moisten it,the ph will rise into the low 6's.

I recommend moistening the soil with ph adjusted water.
then re-check before amending.:2cents:

Dolomite lime to mix up in the soil. About a Tablespoon per gallon. Then water with ph 7. Or you can use hydrated lime mixed in water and use that water to drench the pot, also ph 7. Either way, it'll take roughly a week to fully kick in and raise your ph. So prepare ahead of time and good luck mate! :smokebuds:

You can also mix lime right into the soil mix. One tablespoon to 10 gals of mix should raise your pH about .5 point up. This method takes longer to set, about three weeks. I am told this method amends the mix to a more stable pH level. I don't know if that is true or not, but it has worked for me.

Thanks for the info. I think I will water her down first after I mix in some perlite and re-check the levels. I heard that FFOF is normally a bit low on the ph scale. Im sure Ill be off to buy some lime either way!
