So I'm thinking about growing in my apartment!

Considering that events can go bad like leaks, natural disasters, neighbors starting structure fires it does not seem like a good idea to grow in an apartment.

Would growing 1-4 autoflowers in airpots with DIY DIRT from the LOWESGUIDE and some CFLs or maybe T5s or LED UFOs be too stinky or hazardous due to heat ??

you have the answer to your question, trust your gut!

You might want to check out some of the micro grow threads. Most of those growers are in urban jungles. Things like coco are available In small bricks then you wouldn't be lugging bags of soil up and downs stairs for prying eyes to see. With the exception of maybe few small things, most of what you would need would fit in grocery bags. Paper not plastic(plus you will need the bags later to dry your herb. There is a section here for that to). Im growing in a very small tent in my closet. And like GoAuto said....trust your gut.

Could you tell me how to grow a plant in an airpot using coco ?

Same as you would soil. I mean a few differences that are specific to coco but the pot makes no difference. I mean it will dry out faster but that's just coco. I've done several coco grows in airpots. There is a great coco section in here. Its right under the hydro section.

I agree.

One potential problem: Your lease probably includes an enter apartment for maintenance etc. clause. I assume it depends on the laws in your area, but, I have always restricted entry with some form the apt. agent would provide. Typically, so that my pet would not get out.

Just a thought.

what supplies do I need to get started with coco?

I was looking at using the modified kiss coco method from another site but not sure how to apply this to autiflowers

Just about all the grow journals list the pacific things they are using for there grow. From what lights there using and cycle all the way down to nutes and some even list there feeding schedule. You just need to go and read some of them journals that fit what your looking to start with. As for photos to autos not much difference other than the speed at which they grow and finish. Auto go from seedlings to finished buds in a set amount of time and light cycles do-not determine that.

You MOST certainly will need some odor control, either a ona jar or two or carbon filter (ona is strong as hell) I would suggest you go with something small like a grow tent 2'x2' or do a DIY cab out of a ikea cabinent or something along those lines.... A led like 240w would do good in a 2x2 (look in led section and money is a factor consider looking at the bysen LEDs)
So pretty much the most important things to consider is stealth or small enough to conceal, odor control, air circulation and lightning.... Sending a :karma cloud: of sound planning.
Your at least starting off on the right foot of researching and planning.....

I'd be concentrating on odour first! 1-4 plants are going to stink
