We take every effort to maintain anonymity of our members. Like others have said, a proxy server can be a good idea to add further protection. I've been around this scene for years and I have never heard of a single credible story of someone getting busted because LEO tracked them down through a legitimate cannabis site server. Meanwhile I've heard countless tales of arrests due to being ratted out by friends/family/neighbors/landlords, insufficient odor control, grow room setups that give away what is being done, and generally poor security practices. So I'd say that as long as you have your real life stuff sorted, you'll be fine. I believe you'd have to be showing off a massive industrial grow to make it worthwhile for any LEO to begin the arduous process of attempting to track you down online.

Okay that's great I've started my journal now lol. #1 rule of mine and should be everyones. "never tell a soul" and the rest of it I swear by!

I left the door to my little grow closet open while I went for a short walk at night. When I came back I noticed the pink glow from my LED's was obvious from outside my house. Duh!!! Every time I opened the closet at night.... was like a pink neon sign saying

I have a little problem at night where my vent is I have a light leak and it shows a bit through my garage window. No-one can see the window unless they come onto my property I'm just a bit paranoid about it.

I'd say it would still be wise to use VPN service and encrypt your traffic. I do it with everything regardless.

Great advice, and chose a VPN that lets you pay without CreditCards or Paypal. If your VPN doesn't have any info about you, they can't lose it, or share it. Your VPN shouldn't even know your name or email.

You can also use TOR browser but the flash functions on afn won't work with tor.

You can build a light trap out of a cardboard or foamboard and solve that problem. Looks like this inside:
