Water is water is not true. Grab a ppm meter and you will see what falls from my tap is not same from yours, even though we share same ph. Even more so, water compounds each carry more or less minerals as well. Take that further and water testings will show what elements is in the water, like when a well is dug. This is the biggest reason why nutrient bases may need cal-mag, n, p, k, or numerous other trace or main elements added to the water. As well why many a well dug is not or human consumption.
If water was water, I could use shit that sat in my backyard in an old tire with rotten leafs in it.
You did nail ph somewhat. If you are in a swimming pool enviroment the water inside needs to be at a level it dont eat your skin off. Add in the cholroine to disinfect people pissing in it, and away we go.
Seriously you could ph water with baking soda, lime juice or pool spa shit, but the pool spa/ aquarium crap is meant for harsher waters then what land plants use, and dont take into account ppm's. Meaning what trace elements are in the crap? You ppm a pool/aqaurium for different reans, its to add chlorine or change stagnant overly rich water. Opposite end of a growers spectrum. We are trying to enrichen water knowing its base, not kill unwanted waste.
There is a reason there is aquarium ph adjustments, pool adjustments and hydro grow adjustments.
In the old days I seen people using battery acid to lower ph, it worked, but I ponder if I wanted the waste water near me, let alone smoke their stuff.
I generally steer of other peoples stuff out of my circle for many reasons.
BTW, wonder what the metal count is in the crap your using versus true hydroponic stuff. Chemical companies get away with alot. Hydroponic ph has some of the same make up but different ways they go about it. Did you know pool/aquarium ph has conditioners in it for skin? Ppm your water and report back the mineral content before it hits a plant. Go one step further, use organic up and down, baking soda or lime as needed, then have a mineral analysis be interested to see the results.
The treatment plant your water came from, is as well a different enviroment then a plants needs. Not many pot plants want chlorine. I have had several grows once plants became adjusted I could add chlorine water straight off tap, not ph'd and go. but then it took me forever to condition the soil and plant to the enviroment I subjected it to. And none were in soil-less medium /hydro.
FYI - pool water isnt meant to drank, and plants dont grow not drinking. Just my .02.
