Live Stoner Chat I beseech your wisdom!!!

Even out of the gates, if you keep the gals "between the lines" and don't steer them into the ditch, you can expect 1 or 2 ounces per plant.

I don't know about you, but even as a daily smoker for almost 30 years, it takes me more than a month to get through an ounce.

with 3 plants, you can expect up to 6 ounces as a freshman effort.

6 ounces may last you more than a year :)

WHAT!!! That is way more than I thought it would yield. Ok, so I need to only grow one plant of each type to try. I can give the college students my cast offs:)

I really like the suggestion of going to a legal state. If we went to Colorado would I be able to sample different types to help zero in on the plant that will work best for me? That may be where I need to start.

I am glad you are coming around to the AFN way of thinking. And, when you are a few grows down the road, you can share your knowledge and tips with others who may need your guidance and encouragement. See how it works!

Please do keep it up and follow through. We need people like you to start growing and sharing.

I did a coco grow (don't ask yet) which was a disaster. But I still got two oz out of it. So, go for it ! We will help along the way. Promise.

If by sample you mean "purchase small amounts of..." YES. I do this with strains I'm interested in growing. But, for the most part, you'll be buying photo-period bud, not autos. But you'll be able to isolate whether you like Indicas or Sativas and hone in on particular genetics that are favorable. I see a field trip coming!

BTW, my first grow (Which I started this last April) was a Sweet Seeds Dark Devil that ended up yielding 2.8 oz. - grown in a closet with mylar and a 135W (90W actual) UFO LED light. :)

Welcome, Autoimmune! You have definitely landed in the right place to learn to grow some quality meds! At this time last year, I was only dreaming about growing my own weed, and I had never grown anything before. Now, I'm a little over a week away from finishing my second grow of high quality buds! We're all here to help get you growing good bud too!

welcome you have come to the right place for great advice and guidance. I would like to suggest that you start three plants and then chose the best one to grow to completion. there is a lot of variation from seed to seed. and keep it simple at first. potting soil and nutrient from the local home depot work well for a start.they offer many organic products and you won't attract attention buying them. tell no one what you are doing.be careful online not to give information about your location.law enforcement is interested in commercial growers and sellers and if you do not call attention to yourself they won't waste time with you.be careful not to over water or over feed. these are the most common newbie mistakes and give them plenty of light. with fluorescent you want about 4000 lumens per square foot. output is on the bulb package. good luck and remember that growing is an art that takes time to learn.just be patient and good luck

Great advice mauricem00.

if you plan on growing with fluorescent you may want to consider one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-ft-T5-TEK...0398285?pt=US_Hydroponics&hash=item256baea7cd they might be easier than trying to build a cfl fixture and last longer. they are much more efficient giving a lot more light and less heat for the same amount of electricity.you can get good bulbs here very cheap https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/2819/FC55-2G1130OD.html these are good commercial quality bulbs.I use them myself the fixture comes with 2 6400k bulbs but you would want to run 1 6400k and 1 3000k for growing and flowering. this fixture will give enough light for one large plant or 2 or 3 small plants good luck and looking forward to watching your first grow

welcome autoimmune. like everyone else has said you came to the right place. my sympton's are not as severe as your's but cannabis is the only thing that work's for me without the horrible side effect's of pharmaceutical's. in Colorado you can buy up to a 1/4 oz per purchase and you can break that down into gram's so you can try a lot of different strain's. also check out the new grower's thread's. and if you order seeds opt for super stealth shipping. good karma to you and happy growing.

Hi Autoi, let me add my welcome to AFN. I am in the US myself and not in a legal state so same boat as you.

I got a very nice well ventilated 6 bulb T8 fixture at Home Depot for $80. Provides great coverage of a 24" x 48" area and the ventilated reflector allows placement within an inch of plant tops. The six bulbs allow you to blend your light spectrum based on what phase your plants are in

I get seeds from Canada as I feel the mail traffic between the 2 countries makes it easier for shipments to blend in
I have had good success with http://www.mjseedscanada.com/, their Auto Berry is a great producer. I would start with a mostly Sativa and a mostly Indica hybrid and see what works best for you. You may find the mostly Sativa better for daytime and mostly Indica better for sleep but everyone is different in how they react.

Mrs. Oldster is on Synthroid and anti-depressant just as an FYI. I would suggest you check out the Positive pH thread in our medical section and see if you fall into the low body pH category. Just fixing that issue may well help with some of your depression symptoms.

Reach out if I can be of any help
