Nice, would love to go pike fishing but don't know anyone who does it, and think you need someone experienced with you on the first few outings

Oyes pike fishing is so much fun pike are so aggressive when it takes the bait ....
but it's only catch and release for them is not so good to eat
But super fun to fish them

Yeah a male stag beetle and unsure about the eggs they where in the nest as I was wading about (same lake / day as the swan ) Never got to see what bird returned to the nest. I would assume by looking on google images that they are indeed coots eggs.

My ultimate pic would be a kingfisher on my rod tip, only ever happened twice and instead of enjoying the moment always try and grab the camera and scare away!

You say about cray fish doing your head in, the water I'm fishing at the moment has loads of zebra mussels, the amount of times I've reeled in with a clam clamped to my hook, started to reel in every 2 hrs now to rebait

I always catch, take care and release. Unfortunatly there are now a couple of predators in the UK for carp, one being otters!
