If i brush the soil off the plants at next harvest, so their won't be any dead roots in there, is it ok to reuse ?

Will it be better than fresh soil because of established microherd etc .. ?

Thanks,

steely.

I wish this was the case, I heard don't resuse your soil unless your using tlo soil. Getting rid of roots won't get rid of any nute or salt build up that may of occured. I can't remeber exacly the process but I was told if you want to reuse soil you have to prep the soil during the grow. Maybe someone can give you a more detailed answer but I know its not a good idea unless you know what your doing. I do mix my dead leaves into my fresh soil but I never plant a seed in soil I've already done a full grow in.

recycled soils are some of the better soils to use in many cases imo.Esp. for tlo.but nutes Im not 100% on to be honest. As long as you flushed and there are minimal salts n stuff,Id say its just fine if not awesome to use."AFN smoke out" and when I use recycled soils I always add a bit more or reammend it ever so slightly with a lil pearlites n such things if you use them.Happy growing buddy!

Damn! Not the answer I was wanting to hear. Just another purchase come next crop

And now that answer differs! Sounds to be right, as long as it's flushed properly and all additives and excess are gone, it should be fine

I'd give it a go side by side with some fresh soil and check the results. I've read if you want to reuse a medium add a strong dose of enzymes to the soil. First though I'd flush the crap out of it with something like FloraKleen, or another flushing agent, or pure RO water (failing that tap water will do in a pinch). Then give it a light feed of half strength nutes, wait for it to dry out just a tad and then add the seedling / cutting. Definitely add some perlite to the soil. I just can't get enough of perlite :)

if you feed with nutes be sure a good flush has been done and like you said remove the roots

ive been reusing pro-mix for years , 5-6 years ago i lined the bottom of some pots with rocks/gravel to do a side by side test for someone , to this day i still come across the odd one when mixing up and removing roots in my used soil

peace

What were the results of the test b0b? :Sharing One:

I reuse my soil but only sometimes depends if I am using Organic nutes or not. Give a good flush and either buy a tea mix off of Amazon or somewhere and if your real lucky you can find a local grow shop that now like many brew and sell teas. $10 a gallon at my local place has veg and bloom teas. I use one gallon tea mix to fifteen gallons of water.

I have on occasion when really broke just give a good flush and let dry take my drywall hole saw and just cut the main center out and plop in a new start from a red plastic beer cup and off they go. ( But I do this only with a very hungry strain. ) and never had one burn or really show any signs of being any different from the others.
