for 2 plants (auto widow cheese fem) on day 3 in soil? I have 2x6400k/2800 lumen, 2x5000k/1300 lumen and 1 2700k/1300 lumen CFLs hanging over my girls in 3 sq ft of space.

What do you think?

Cheers :tiphat:,
Jenny

P.S. I have more info posted over in the new grower forum (soil/CFL cabinet grow….)

3 X 3 = 9sf.

9sq X 50watts is 450 watts.

What is the actual wattage of each bulb?

The space really is only 3 sq ft: can't recall specifics, but like 25"x18". I don't know the actual watts. I'm kind of unclear about the actual watt/replacement watt calculation. Have tried to wrap my head around that, but not there yet . Am I to take from your equation that 50 actual watt/square foot is where I need to be?

Sooo much to learn, and so grateful for the help and encouragement! Thanks a billion!!!

Yes 50w more is better so 150watts minimum in your 3sqf, the actual wattage should be stamped on the bulb some where usually at the bottom around the base......Don't go by the equv.

You would have 3600 lumens per square foot. This is considered by most to be about the minimum lighting to do a decent job. But hey, if your just starting out, go for it with what you got. Good luck.

Thanks, y'all! I also have a couple of 125w (actual) 64k grow lights. Maybe I should try to work one of these into the equation? Need to get a reflector. Should I be worried about making changes while grow is underway?

No worries change them out, I'd do both for 250 watts if you can handle the heat issues that might arise.

More light never hurts really as long as you keep air flow going well. Also you can make ur first reflector out of stove pipe from home depo and a few 1\8 inch rods some bolts and screws a light fixture and some Y spliters and your golden worked great for me anyways

Something like this maybe?
