Ok so I done a quick google I was curious of the science behind it but apparently it’s not that common so I thought I would post here, every crop I ever handled I tend to get skin irritation then if I scratch it kind of makes it worse with red lines (scratch marks) that go shortly after. it’s clearly some compound in the plant my skin don’t agree with, just curious if anyone else gets this or knows what exactly it is? I read in another post the consensus was nutrient in plant but mine have been flushed well and it even happened on a organic run it’s very short term thing and only occurs on skin that made contact with plants anyone one else out there ????

I have a or used to have a good friend and neighbor he used to work in the Cannabis Fields way back in the 80s and he used to tell me that he was allergic to cannabis I used to laugh at him but I've heard about it over the years now and you're saying it and some other people have said it as well but his symptoms are exactly the same as what you just described totally

I think its just bacteria that exist on plants and when the points of the leafs come in contact with skin it causes irritation. I get it with most plants.

Try disinfecting the affected areas with alchohol. This also works for mosquito bites as its the bacteria causing the inflamation.

Hipe this helps.

allergies can happen to anyone at any time. a fact of life. when my new neighbor moved in, I have been a legal medical grower for the last ten years, so when new neighbor was outside
one morning I went over to talk to him, showed him my medical card and told him about my grows, I don't use carbon filters . because I don't need to hide the smell. told him you may catch a wiff of cannabis. he was ok with it, told me most of his friends smoke , But he was allergic to it both skin and eyes and heavy sneezing., running nose and the rest
I am far enough away that it does not bother him. I am lucky. I don't need the expense of carbon filters and duct work.:nono:
where some latex gloves when handling your plants, and hope that the allergy don't get worse. I guess it does not effect you when you smoke???

The irritation goes within 5-10mins I literally just get a itch then if I scratch I get red lines which normally wouldn’t happen :)

Yeah gloves work I suppose but I only ever get it on my forearms and stomach area. And nope I can smoke care free, I do have allergy to pollen FYI

I get the exact symptoms you describe. Forearms but not palm and fingers. Red lightly raised scratches lasting 10min. Eye stye's sometimes. My fingertips always smell citrus from touching the plants.

Smoked most of my life without a reaction from smoke to lung and edibles are ok too but I'm a light weight when eating it.
