New Grower Jimmy's Newbie Grow

Thanks Neko for the encouragement !

Here are the twin AK's. As you can see, one of them wants to end up in a rizla a little more than the other... the little one seems 'neater' than her sis, who's got a gnarly little leaf. How do they look to you?
I want to put them on 18/6 now, and will introduce nutes on the next feed in two or three days,

BUT...

The CK is a no-show so I want to germinate another and get it in the cab. Will the 18/6 affect the sapling in its first week? How should I go about this? There is nowhere else I can put her...

I bow to your guidance AFN!

Sucks that the CK is a no show. Dont trash it yet though. I remember reading a guy who scrapped the soil back into his main batch of soil, and he looked a week later. BAM..a little seedling growing in his dirt container haha.

Though, I would have started a new seed too at this point..Just in case. Anywho. I had mine on 18/6 through the entire process. Hope this helps =).

Sure does Neko, cheers fella

Here are the twins on day 8. The larger stem has a white-tipped leaf, which I understand could be high alkalinity in the soil... I kind of got a bit confused over the soil PH at first but wonderful Blue provided a formula to work it out. I will be gettin a soil ph meter in time, but for now is it ok to run some water through to test the runoff even though a watering isnt due or needed for another couple of days? I read that over-watering is a top newbie mistake...

At this point, I would stay away from watering to the point of runoff, for fear of drowning, but I'm just a paranoid newb, so you might wanna consult the gurus

Yea, I definitely had a bad time with over watering at first. Part of it for me was just being anxious. Anxious to grow it right, and water on time. Last grow I was able to get a hold on the watering and dial it in more.

I dont really water at all until they a week old. Then its usually ready for a real watering. This current grow, I just kept the top soil from getting to dry throughout the first week. My first watering for my 1 gallon containers were 8 days after the initial watering to drop the beans.

my"My 2 cents" :pimp: ..Im not expert though. Its just what has worked for me.

Day 14

Hey AFN

I been away a coupla days enjoying the bank holiday rain... was happy to see the twins have come along pretty nicely. The top leaves are a little droopy on the big sis, but she was thirsty. Started the bloom nutes today (biobizz)- 3ml in 3 litres of water.

Also started germination of another Candy Kush. Here's hopin :smoke:

hey wait! don't start bloom nutes yet.... no.. only grow nutes now brotha

I was thinking thinking maybe you had made a mistake when you said bloom nutes, but if not, I second what Faded said. Nix the bloom nutes!
On another note, they sure are purty!

Hey and Welcome!!
Finally had the time to get caught up. I see Blue has been by to check on you and give some great advice RE: pH. The grow looks good and so do your girls! I agree with the others, no bloom and very light veg nutrients. Day 14 or so is about the earliest I start with soil YMMV. I would not worry overmuch on your pH it looks pretty good if on the low side. Just be sure to keep an eye on it. Double check the feed water going in and adjust as needed. I would hold on the bloom stuff until the growth spurt after the flowers start to appear. They will need the N to grow big and strong and make a good home for all those buds to grow up in.
Here's some :karma Cloud: and a good :slap: for the great job so far!! Keep up the good work and keep asking questions!!
Peace and Happy Growing.

Yea, dont do bloom nutes until the vertical growth has stopped. It still needs all that N.

It can hurt your overall yield if Im not mistaken. :vibes:

Edit: I replied in haste, not realizing that you guys already let him know lol.
