Lighting Kind K5 xl750 rebuild

Cobkits and Northern Growlights are NOT getting much of a markup. I'll bet they make maybe $5 a chip. So you deal with the Chinese when you get a bum driver or chip........I'll pay a little extra and know I'll have customer service!

To funny I was just typing when I had an alert. I was looking for a major discount on a 200-400 cob order. I have no problem spending the money if they were to cut the prices but places like cob kits and grow northern sell for their million dollar order price.

I offered it as bang for the buck. I said it was close, not an equal. The 1825 will match the Cree at 50 watts, beyond 70 watts, its more efficient than the cree. Around $42 . The down side is its 50V making driver selection a little harder, but not really a problem. I think the 1812 is the bang-for-the-buck chip right now. Vero are looking good with their new gen chips, but there are none in the pipe yet.
Man this is a tough one. I have the existing 50v drivers so I'm good in that department. So now it's if I should pay the extra and upgrade and is it worth the money ? I want to because I always shoot for the best but that usually is my down fall. What are your thoughts?

Yessir. Alot of foreign companies are not truthful when given the opportunity. My custom bar came direct and had nothing but trouble. Took 3 extra weeks, wrong plug and the driver which we didn't talk about was sent as cheap as possible. When the European plug showed up he told me just to shove it in. "Many American customer do it" after I declined they told me to get an adapter from Amazon and even provided a link.

personally, i wouldn't buy chips from Chinese merchants, honesty does not seem to be of prime importance to many of them.........
I've purchased all my stuff through northern grow lights and cob kits. It got delivered in a few days. Very happy with their service.

The COB's that I selected on my spreadsheet were basically chosen due to the graphs of the spectrums they covered. I tried to get a good mix of cobs that hit the blue, red/orange, red and a little of everything in between. Some were predominantly blue and some more red. I tried to get them as close to 450ish & 630ish as possible. That was my train of thought. More focus on the actual spectrum then lumens. Finding it in stock is another story.

Yeah so I was just on roll it up and they had some very interesting results on predominantly red spectrum and low k/CRI. Just completely destroyed my thinking @BigSm0. Talking about the macaffe curve being bias and all sorts of shit. But the data was interesting to say the least. City cobs was chiming in also.

That's what I'm talking about. All this new stuff is just insane. Luckily there are some smart bastards out there willing to spend their lives on this stuff for us to benefit. Lower cri being better than higher cri? Makes absolutely no sense to me but I'm not doubting someone who is Smart enough to even begin testing the theory.
