Hey guys. I've switched to LEDs from hps and don't want to run into calmag Def on this grow. I've done a little reading and seen people mention that longer night periods can cause it so should I go for 18/6 or 20/4? Also calmag dosage.. I follow tangs schedule and it says start using calmag after day 30. Should I just use calmag when I start nutrients at day 10? I suppose prevention is better than cure. Hope someone can get back to me. Cheers

24/0 under led in soil no calmag. I have a bottle but only use it for tomatoes. I can't prove it's a myth, but it is on my list of facts to ignore.

I went with the same philosophy...and almost killed my plant (check out my grow in my signature). I'm using the same schedule and an led...and was adding extra cal mag pretty much from the beginning. After realizing that I was experiencing cal mag toxicity, I cut it out completely. I haven't added any in almost a month and have zero deficiencies. So....in my opinion, it is a myth. Looking back....I would much rather deal with a deficiency than a toxicity issue.

Just my two cents, though! :pass:

Good luck.

EDIT: I do however, believe alot of this has to do with water. If you're using RO I would imagine having to add cal mag back in. I, on the other hand, use well water....

While it may be a verified issue, it certainly does not affect 100% of plants.

I did my research before starting my grow...followed the recommended advice and burnt the hell out of my plants. So...saying its a verified issue is not proof that it happens 100% of the time.

I'm not trying to start an argument, and all things are being said in a respectful manner.:smoking:

Again...I think this has alot to do with the water being used...

It is not a myth its a verified issue.

Then what would you recommend him do?

First off before this gets out of hand... Opinions and facts are two different things. The fact is depending on your medium, nutrient line and water determines when and how much cal mag you need to use.

What are you growing in? What nute line are you using? What type of water do you use? City/tap, bottled, well, etc?

Cal mag is not generalized. It depends on your set up. After answering these questions we can go from there.
