I am running a smaller grow.. 1.5'x 1.5'x 3.5' hydro grow. I have a total of 4 3" fans ran in tandem with their own carbon filter. My anometer is reading about 120 CFL for each set of fans (240 total) Lights off my box runs about 3 degrees above room temp. Lights on the box runs 14 degrees hotter. It's is a 180w LED. Is this swing normal for this size light?

Sounds about right.. What are your actual temps?

Room temp is 74, box temp light off is 76, lights on 88. All the while the water stays at a cool 66-68 degrees

Ok when you say you have 3 fans running in tandem are you sucking air out from your space? 88 is to high for my liking .. Where is your fresh air coming in from?

Post some pictures cause if the room temp is 74 you should be able to to suck that air in the box and suck out the hotter air and keep it at a good temp

No (4)3 inch fans for exhaust [ two ran in series with a carbon scrubber] I have a 3 inch square passive intake at the base. I tried adding forced air for the intake and it only increased the noise and did not help with the temp.

So they suck air out of the tent/box.. And then you have an intake vent hose or ducting?

whats weird is that a thermal scan shows my water chiller runs at about 104 degrees and my box stays below 80 with lights off. That's why I think I have a hot light

Naw man, it's a simple locker that
Has a passive intake on the bottom and the aforementioned exhaust setup sitting stealthil in my room.

Even with that if your scrubber comes on and sucks the hot air in and replaces it with cooler air it should be fine.. Is your temp probe at canopy height?
