This had nothing to do with your light and it is 1000% a soil/pH issue. The reason that they have perked up is not due to light, it is because of the soil that you planted them in outside has been acclimated/amended by nature and has had time to "settle" if you will. More specifically I believe that the pH is much more stable in the bed you planted them in because as you said it is "used" soil which is actually better if you ask me. If you were to take some of your soil from outside and use it inside you would see them perk up as well, I believe. I am about 90% sure this is your issue, oh and you need to get a pH meter or litmus paper at the least to test your pH it is critically important to know what your pH is. One other thing is you said you are using organic ferts just make sure your water doesn't have any chlorine in it or it will kill all of your microbial good stuff in your soil. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask

Thanks @StarBright for letting me know about this thread you are such a sweetheart!

I don't feed the plants anything at all til about week 5 mate, or when they look hungry. There's plenty of food in the mud already without adding even more IMO.

Your mix sounds ok.. Last grow I used a light mix and picked up some nasty deficiencies later on in the grow.. Can't win mate. [emoji849]

Nice 1 Del! That's what I think too tho I don't worry about the chlorine anymore. I did to start off with so I'd let the water stand for a day before using it. I don't bother these days tho. I do avoid using pH down tho cos that stuff is no good for the mud, hence me using white vinegar (for down) and bicarbonate of soda (for up) to get the pH where I want it.

Much kinder on the micro-dudes!

So if you are using organic fert then water it with water that has chlorine in it you have just killed everything in the soil because you have just poured bleach in your soil, not good. You can totally use tap water and your plants will still grow n stuff but as far as creating a super nice microbial environment that cant happen with a bunch of bleach in the mud lol
