New Grower Light cycle

So i came across a study that for veg best is 20/4 or 24/0 but this dont hold true for flower as it seems to hurt yeild.

How about a link to the study? I'm sure you're honest and all but I'd like to take more than your word for it. :scope:

Methinks he was talking about just vid. I cant find anything else to do with that study yet, not in documentated form anyway

Takes me back to a time where i read once on a american medical website about a Doctor who grew 3 sets of 5 strains of tangerine dream and harvested them all at different stages of flowring plus used different light stages for each.
I wish i could find it but that was ages ago, if i do ill post it, anyway, it turned out the one that had the more sleep was more potent in THC 14 days before recommended harvest time!
He had that one on at 16/8 and cut it at 60 days.
35 percent of the trichomes were also clear, confused? lol it gets better
Apparantely CBD didnt degrade at all on that light schedule but on others a slight degredation was noted.
Amazing, I know another medical bloke did the same sort of test with the same strain on the Rollity site that i read about with similiar results but he used the 18/6 - 12/12 method.
It just gets more and more interesting....

All i know is i grew the same plant and had to cut one of them early cos it was a monster pheno and was out growing my cab! 60 percent of the trichomes were milky but rest was clear and am smoking her right now as i type, good THC hit leading to a nice mellow feeling, not couchlocky in anyway but ... mellow.
So proof is in the pudding, dont wait for Amber! lol and give it some sleep.

Its the one on the right, stood at 5 foot. Towered over my poor little big bang.

I wish we could get more definitive info, but our girls are so different strain to strain. Ask which lighting schedule is best 3 times and get 6 different answers haha. One thing I have begun to learn is what most of the seasoned growers will tell you "read your plants they'll tell you what they need". I know that comes with experience, just wish new growers like me could find a definite answer.

Yup i totally agree, Ive heard that old saying many time and i think its true if you know your strain.
thats what Its all about, thats why all of my old school growers stick with what they know and have grown for ages, wont try any of these new strains for fear of wasting their time,
thats when i come in, i love trying out different ones.
Some take ages to cure and taste nice but some taste nice straight away (well after at least two weeks) just like the Tangerine Dream.
I think its each to his/hers own these days, we can only guide and try to teach from our own experiences but its our choice at the end of the day.

youll never get a definative answer man cause some people grow monsters under 18/6 and some do under 20/4 so i think if you give them atleast 18 hours a day youll be ok..

i personally do 20/4. :smokebuds:

I am currently working on my first grow, in an Aerogarden Ultra lol, I had one auto(mass biodiesel auto) that was supposed to be feminized show male but my berry ryder is coming along nicely. I had planned to do a straight 24/0 grow but she is on day 28 with no pistals, so I'm switching her (hopefully) to 20/4. With all the knowledge I've been soaking up it seems that or 16/8 by the video posted and other posts from seasoned growers is best. I just wish I would have stuck to one strain at a time for my first grow but other than that this has been a great experience to help me self medicate. :toke:

Im gonna keep the light on 24/0 for the 1st two weeks then 20/4 for the rest and final two weeks i plan to go 18/6....i just sort of think although autos can grow any light cycle itll be a bloody hard job to beat nature and less hours of light may encourage them to think its winter.

I started off using 18/6 at first and now do 20/4 but I have not tried cutting back towards harvest like you would a photo plant, I chose 20/4 cuz I think I have better results between weeks 2 through 6. I probably should experiment a little more and see what happens if I cut back to 18/6 or 16/8 for the last 2 to 3 weeks but don’t feel like sacrificing a harvest to science.
