DIY light leak discovered today

whatsup! just wanted to share my experience.

i have a strange setup... i have a small veg tent above my primary tent and route fresh air first through veg tent and then into my bloom tent.
today i noticed that i had a light leak coming in from the vent, because of the metal tubing i used and the veg tent (which has the lights on longer).

the tubing i used is the metal looking flex tubing, perfect for reflecting light. so once i noticed it i took out my spray paint and painted the inside black.
so basically, i am saying if you use this flex tubing, be careful, you might have to send some spray paint down into it.

You can just put an "S" curve into your flexible ducting, or give it a 180° turn where appropriate.

I see no problem with light leakage, with autoflowers. My tent leaks lots of light, the reflective mylar and black painted outer surface of the canvas are coming off after >5 years. But even with leaks, the tent gets its darkness time - all need to do is turn off the room lights too.

i hear you about the S bend, it helped but it was doing the job that well. painting it black seemed to do it really good.
i think overall, perhaps these plants are not quite as sensitive as we make it out to be, afterall, full moons make it pretty darn bright outside in nature.

It seems that way to us humans, but it really isn't. Sunlight at high noon is about 100,000-130,000 lux, a 60 watt bulb is about 50-100 lux and a full moon is only about .3 lux. That's why photoperiod plants aren't affected by the moonlight.

And photoperiod plants seem to grow and reproduce normally under street lights, indoors such as in hotel lobbies or other places lit 24 x 7, etc.

Bruce Bugbee mentioned that there was a certain level of light pollution that cannabis can tolerate without causing issues. I don't remember how much though lol

I'm guessing below the threshold of photosynthesis, sub 200ppfd, but I don't remember the exact amount.

I've had my tent in perpetual production of my fav herbs, autos and photos, for 10 yrs and I know it has leaks...never have an issue so I'm sure a little leak at times doesn't alter anything. That being said, efforts should be made to eliminate light as much as possible.

Last year I grew a photo plant outside to maturity and probably less than 25 yards from my six foot high fence is a road which has traffic late at night where headlights from passing cars shine right over the top of my plants frequently during the night. It caused no issues.

This year I don't know if a different photo strain will do as well or not. I'll know pretty soon though if they don't start budding soon.

The last two years I have grown my autoflowers outside and the intermittent light during the night doesn't affect them adversely at all.

I wondered about that as a full moon where I live is bright as one of those orange bug lights and weed grows fine.
