-Problem: continuing poor health
-Medium/grow method: DWC
-Feed and supplements used: Megacrop 2.0, Sweet Candy, Kelp extract, Enhance MC, Hydroguard.
-Water source: RO
-Strain and age Stone Dragon day 25
-Climate: 75ish / 55ish
- Light used: COB, just switched from 20/4 to 18/6; distance to tops....25”
-Additional info: she’s had a rough go of it. My first wrong move with her was having her too close to the COBs for the first week or so. In my defense, one of her siblings, now deceased (male) stretched for the light like Jack and the beanstalk, fooling noob me into cranking the cobs down. Meanwhile they had a period with dark roots — no slime though — but in retrospect I think there was a low grade root rot going on. And just recently, she got relocated into the 5 gallon bucket with her roots rather unceremoniously lumped in there, so she has that cross to bear. She has been looking better, but those brownish spots are there on the new growth as well — still. I’ve got her in yet another new reservoir consisting of 200 ppm CalMagPro and 500 ppm Megacrop but beyond that I’m pretty mystified. To be honest, I haven’t treated her much differently than my other girls except she started out with 4 males in a 10 gallon reservoir.

Any insight or advice besides the reservoir reset appreciated.

Root growth since being placed into her own bucket (3 days ago?).

She’s only a week younger than Dutch back right ...

Decent growth but the deficiency has spread. Her reservoir is perfect: 5.8 and 700 ppm. Stone at AFP commented about the root zone and I suspect that too — not sure how to address it.

I’ve dropped the remaining 3 beans, hoping for a healthy female.

:smoking: DG luv, holler at me or another hydro guru if we don't see this in short order!
Soooo,.... :crying: ..lotta help I am ay? .......... RO water, or low ppm? 200ppm Ca-Mg alone is pretty rich I think, on top of what MC2.0 has,... I can't help but wonder if this is a toxicity/uptake interference thing, compounded by the other stresses and root damage, this poor thing can't get a leg up,... symptoms look like severe Ca defc.... Scope the pics in the Ca defc. thread, some of the lower ones are from folks here, with that exact same necrosis and spotting hugging the mid-rib and laterals too,...not the usual manifestation, and my thinking is it's not a simple "lack-of" issue,... She's so far behind, so sickly, I have to suggest just tossing her out... Whatever this death spiral is, last dithc try is to reduce the res' Ca-Mg and see if the progression halts... That, or something is now systemically FUBAR, and nothing can be done...

I would have tagged, but wasn’t in a rush really. And you are lots of help. I had high hopes for this girl. I would have rather lost any of the other plants besides this one. Thanks for giving her another look. She’s a bit worse for wear this morning.

Dropped my last 3 Stone Dragon beans.:headbang:

@Waira, I am seeing some improvement today, very encouraging. Staying hopeful.

And I decided to spoil my girls a bit — the FulPower arrives today and the Microblast arrives tomorrow. Not that either are necessarily what this girl needs, I think she’s got issues in the root zone and is either going to grow out of it or isn’t, but for the healthy girls ... woo hoo!

Can you spit me a good weak foliar recipe for the MicroBlast — I have cocowet?

Hey I also bought a big old bag of worm castings. What do ya think will happen if I throw a half a handful in one of these reservoirs?

:jointman: yah mon! She do look beddah,... :d5: New growth look OK, watch the spread rate of symptoms on newer less affected leaves, usually a good tell if things are halting. No harm in letting her roll along I guess, barring any patho-funny bizz with the roots! Sometimes these issues have a certain inertia to them, they often slowly grind to a stop... some hammered leaves seem to get shut down and ditched no matter what, a case perhaps of the plants "wisdom" in cutting losses and not having manky leaves about that are vulnerable to further infections... some pathogens that get into the non-living cellular plumbing (no real defenses in there, xylem) can travel to healthy parts of the plant! I learned that the hard way with botrytis = :cuss: Some ratty fan leaves I yanked off burned me back last season! They snapped at the abscission layer (cell layer made to break free when shedding leaves), but were not "sealed" off fully, and the fekkin' bot's got in there and traveled right up the main stem into other branches :yoinks:-- prompting bud rot that otherwise likely would not have happened.... never had that happen before, but this new place is cooler and more humid.... lesson learned! Usually I treat open damaged areas with that powdered Sulfur which I make into a sort of thick paint, and brush on... leaf junctions get that from now on too!

:crisps: good eats! Of course, the Microblast is fully chelated already, but some fulvic is a solid back-up, and offers other benefits too, in the res' and as a foliar... It'll have foliar treatment dosage on the bottle, and I'd go with about 10ml/L of the F-P for that,... In the res', I'm not sure, I'll have to look,...
Any plant with root prob's can benefit from foliar feeds, bypassing the troubles down there, and it's the fastest way into the plant... Weak nutes can be a great way to limp her along until she gets better,....adding in the F-P with them is power boosting, better uptake plus other bene's, since the fulvic can get taken fully in and used for other things by the plant!
Coco-Wet, use just enough to make the spray go on without beading up, doesn't take much; play with it some with water only, I'm not sure how much I use, I just toss in in these days-
thinking about 5ml/L... mind that it doesn't get into the res, or much at least, since is can generate foam!
Worm castings, better check with a hydro guru, but pretty sure the raw stuff into the res' isn't advisable, too much mucky stuff to clog things.... as a tea, filtered some, maybe,... but with your other inoculants this might be redundant and possibly disruptive? organic anything is hydro' can get things messy,....

Maybe use the castings to make a tea? I wouldn't recommend just dumping them in...

My tea recipe is:
2 handfuls Worm Castings (put into a sock/pair of stockings with a 'golf-ball' air-stone)
2 tablespoons unsulfured molasses
A scoop of whatever beneficial bacteria you have on hand.
About 2 gallons pre-aerated tap water (not pH'ed)
Throw in another airstone directly into the container and bubble away for 48 hours at about 22.5C (72F).

After 48 hours, bottle it and put it into the fridge for a maximum of 10 days - when it starts smelling like gym socks, dump it.
I throw that into the res at about 250ml every 2 days.

My girl is at day 19 and only has 300ppm of feed in total (this is in addition to tap water with about 170ppm) - MC2.0, Cal Mag Pro, Epsom salts and Sweet candy.

She is slightly smaller than yours, but her roots look a lot better:

Ignore the brown looking bits - I had just poured 250ml of tea in through the hydroton and it was still dripping down.
