Extraction Live/Fresh Frozen Rosin

Ya know.i had read a bit about that in the past,and someone was asking that question just today,i couldnt find the info as it relates to eth,im never above learning,tell me more...

Well it looks like you have everything you need to winterize. I've never performed the technique myself, but I've read the teq online (linked below) quite a few times since I've loved the product so much. From what I understand, winterization or dewaxing involves removing the outer waxes and lipids of the trichome head, referred to as the cuticle in the image below. Further, as the vesicles and cells in the trichome head themselves have lipid membranes, winterization aids in removing them as well. By removing these inactive waxes and lipids you have a product which I subjectively find to be much smoother to inhale, slightly to moderately more potent, and incredibly stable. Hope that makes sense!
Edit: And by the way, I believe the teq for ethanol, BHO, rosin, or whatever kind of shatter you have is still the same. I can't imagine why it would be different. Also, there's a dry ice teq somewhere, just an alternative to the to keep the process really cold.

ahh yes,okay its been awhile..anyway ,yes i have tried this before and it might be the temp of my freezer is not cold enough,but when left in the freezer for 24 hours i did not see the waxes and lipids " flocculating out" i have seen some videos where they show the waxes and lipids suspended in the eth and then refiltered( like in the link)..these waxes and lipids are the same thing that the coffee filters catch during the first filtering that has been called moondust,im sure the cuticle/outter layer does have thc content in it,tastes real planty but does get you high,ive been saving this"filter hash" since i started and havent really found a good use for it,i prolly have 6 ounces sitting in jars...rambling..i may give the winterization process another shot and see how it goes,cleaner and smoother is always better..the info is greatly appreciated bro......

Two things @budelee HOW IS THE ETH EXTRACTION going lol, also the leftover cuticles n lipids def have thc in them, make cannabutter with it!

Not a problem budelee! I'll be stoked to hear how it goes if you do decide to give it another shot. It may be that the particulate (whatever it may be - waxes, lipids, cellulose, etc.) is trapping some of the cannabinoids and terpenoids, resulting in an active product. I've had a planty substance in my filters before with iso extractions, but I never noticed any psychoactivity from it, but like you said it tasted very planty. I'm trying to find the page in your thread where you posted your pics of the filter hash, I remember it looked like what I've gotten in the past. I always chucked it thinking it was garbage, maybe I'll have to investigate.

Have you decided which method your gonna try?? If you wanna check out the BHO threads,the sticky is in the upper area of hash/edibles for you to request access( you may already know this tho) ...peace..

I'm still leaning towards live rosin. It seems like the simplest method to give me a product I would thoroughly enjoy. I may request access to the BHO thread in the future but for right now I'm happy exploring live rosin. I might still try to dewax it though just for experience's sake.

Hey @Autolndi here's some pics of the filter hash/moondust,like i was saying tho,ive smoked it,but now just throw it into jars...in the blue pyrex the pile to the left was a regular/dried batch of extract,on the right is from the live extract this weekend.,,the jar has been building for about a year minus what ive given away or used to cook with..gotta find a way to pull the potency out of it.
