Comes from the furnace but it's cold. Hole is maybe 10ft from furnace. I know from using jb in the past that, if it doesn't work 1st shot I'm more screwed then leaving it

Ok it probably goes to the furnace??? Anyway isolate the line drain it. get a cheap circle cutter 2 repair couplings and a shorty piece of copper thats the right diameter for the existing pipe. Solder flux and copper cleaning cloth. A torch aaaaand i think that's it. For supplies

Anyway the cheapest best way to replace copper water lines are. Buy a cheap cutter

I'm not exactly in a spot where I can learn by screwing it up and then wait 3-4 days with no water to get a plumber over here. I'll try patches but I'd rather it leak for a few days while waiting for the plumber, then not flush the toilets for a few days... If it was a sink or toilet I'd give it a go but it goes right to the furnace, so that's the whole house I think. Other pin hole leaks in the pipes have always sealed themselves back up in a couple days but not this one

Soldering is easy don't panic!!!! Truly a monkey could do my job. Wouldn't even have to be top of his class. Its just patience.

Last time I soldered something was high school But I'm pretty confident I can totally do that. Think I even have an iron around here somewhere. So cut the water and drain the pipes, then solder the hole? How long to let it set before turning the water on?

No he said u gotta cut out a small section of the pipe and then you’ll solder in a small piece from where u just cut the one from!

@JP1 and i forgot a file for the edges of the cut copper to make them silky smooth! watch a couple YouTube videos but the one thing they don't say on them is as a beginner just start with the torch at a far distance from the pipe and gradually get it warm. That's what makes it look pretty

You say you put some tape on it already, add another layer and use a standard car heater hose clamp and clamp it tightly, it should stop the leak until it is convenient to have it repaired permenantly.

A iron is not large enough, you will need a torch.
