Live Stoner Chat Longtime no grow

On the way..... hopefully
  • Hi everyone, I would really appreciate some reassurance, so... beans arrived Friday and this is what I have been up to......

Friday 1/5 8pm placed in paper towel, damp, into sandwich box
Kept damp. Left in dark airing cupboard (peat pods didn't arrive so I couldn't wait, so went back to my 'old way').

Sunday 3/5 am, Tap roots emerge. 5/5 germinated. Yipee. :yay:Planted into coco, lightly watered using Epsom Salt mix in still spring water 1 teaspoon per litre) watered lightly.
room temp - keeping between 21.5 and 24 degrees Bottom of pots slightly damp. Soil Damp.

Monday 4/5 am - temperature at 22 degrees after night on the lights running 18/6. On at 18.00 off at 12.00.
Carbon fan running. Humidity 45%, inside propagator is 48% Soil is damp. Gave light water.
Monday pm 1 pot has a mm of 'green' showing on surface, no other signs of life yet.
hope to see some plant life tomoz evening.

My question? Am I right to run the lights or do they need total darkness? I am finding conflicting information online but last time time I left putting under light until seedlings were stretching for it, I am trying to avoid this time? Would really appreciate some reassurance and feedback as getting nervous for some reason .... thanks in advance for any replies :cools:

    Slow Progress
  • Hi everyone.... am having a rethink on my groom right now... I hadn't installed a large enough carbon filter so am now waiting for 8" rhino 200 x 400 extraction kit and have ordered a 6" extractor which will be used to bring in fresh air from outside.

I think I've stunted my first 4 seedlings...have had issues with heat in my loft and have never grown auto b4 so am not sure how big seedlings should be at 14 days from taproot show date.

Today I've resorted to placing plants outside in sunny position with dappled shade from tree and plan to bring them back in this evening back under the LEDs overnight. My thinking is that this way I can minimise heat stress until I can better control ventilation and heat in groom. Here they are so far.... I think they are stunted and am hoping they recover. We have good weather forecast this week so hoping a few afternoons outside in fresh air will help?

I am prepared to ditch these seeds and start again if I have to.. but hope I can save them.. I'm feeding once every 3 watering once coco is dry 1/4 dose of biobizz veg, calmag added and water Ph 6.2 -4. Have added tiny amount of maxicrop seaweed fertiliser and potsil silicon to feed.

All feedback welcome... my main question is are they likely to recover after being stunted?

    Update
  • Hi everyone :) thought I would post an update since it is a month since I soaked my first 5 auto seeds and joined AFN. A steep learning curve for sure. I've stunted the girls and have had a few environment issues, they seem to be slow growing and so am going to finish them in my yard. Not sure I can justify running the fans and lamps for limited yield. Currently they are in the green house during the day due a cold spell we're having and in summer house overnight. It's been 3 days since leaving the groom, happily they've survived and seem happy.

I've upgraded the carbon filter to an 8"rhino venting outside and a 6" intake extracting from the house. I have fan controllers ordered and hoping to keep humidity up by lowering the intake and outtake fans, a humidifier will be used if needed.

So, I had a disaster with the Philzon, it broke, one month on! it's on its way back. I am planning on buying a Mars hydro 2000 to replace it. I'm not convinced Philzon light was that good any recommendations on light would be welcome, I've not ordered the Mars yet. I want to ensure I can completely control the environment before I germ my next 6 ladies... they are Auto Extreme Dutch passion x3, a freebie Fat monkey x 1 and 2 more fast to vast, will be using biobizz lite mix, 60% perlite 20% and 20% coco. Will germ in jiffy pellets, place straight into their pots under vented bottle tops for a few days.... no transplanting this time!

The girls have been transplanted from a small pot to final, have endured excessive heat and now have been subjected to being moved outdoors, initially into baking sun and now we have a few days of wet cool weather. I'm not sure they'll yield much but hopefully will learn from them. As you can see they are all different sizes, 2 seem to be stunted runts, the other 2 seem to be healthy if small for age. (Germinated 2nd May)

Pic 4) Blackberry Kush - very small and showing white hairs now.... think it will be a 10" cone. (Freebie)

New starters less than a week old :)
  • thought I wd update my thread...so only 2 of my stunted girls survived so I thought I would post a pic of how they are looking..... they were germinated and planted May 2nd and have endured much stress.... but wd be keen to hear if people think they will flower eventually... they are meant to run 65 days.

the babies are my new girls who are already 4 times the size the first ones were after a few days. The babies are just 5 days old.... Auto Extreme by Dutch Passion.

I've managed to sort out many if the issues I was having with the environment... it has been a headache but hopefully these new girls will be giving me something to smoke in September.....and if I have anything off the original ladies (fast to vast) then that will be a bonus.

pic 1 leaf off stunted fast to vast 50 days old.

Pic 2 fast to vast .... not sure if she'll flower, there are two of these. this one doing better than the other

pic 2 4 and 5.... my new girls. Auto Extreme by Dutch Passion....Hoping these will fly... 5 days old.

Would appreciate any feedback .... am wondering if I should finish the fast to vast outside due to keeping RH at 55% for new girls...if I keep them indoors will they still flower at 55% RH.

60 day update on Fast 2 Vast
  • I thought I would update on the 2 girls. Not sure how they'll finish, strain was meant to be 65 days from germ to harvest. Today is day 60... just starting to flower. They are on full dosages of Bloom and Topmax as well as light Veg nutes plus some B52, Calmag and Potsil.

There are 2 plants here...sort of merging into one. :weed::weed::growing:

Hope everyone is well...happy growing :drunks:

    Budding update
  • So after the disastrous start, the 2 survivors are now starting to pack on a little weight. Lots of popcorn but am gonna leave them as not experience enough to know what to take off. I Have done some defoliation as I have been tending to them.... but not very confident with this so kinda just wants let them be now. Hoping they finish soon as the 2 new girls are getting big and I'll need the space.

Here are the 2 fast to vast planted May 1st and here too are pics of the new girls Auto Extreme by DP, today aged 25 days... grow journal link in sig :)

Advice on how long please :)
  • Hi all... wondering if anyone can help... the first two girls who were stunted are budding along... fairly slowly. I am wondering how long folk may estimate I have until harvest?

I have the 2 new girls also now in flower at 32 days old and taking up a lot of room. Im wondering if I should put them in the centre of my space directly under LEDs and put the fast to vast (pictured here) to the outer side of the new girls.... this means they would get slightly less light intensity and would allow the new girls to continue to thrive (no stunting with new girls) Would being on the outer spectrum of the light print make a huge difference to yield? I've read that depriving them of light slightly will help them fatten up. Im not sure how much fatter they will get due to the initial start up issues I had.

They are being fed the usual nutes plus AN Big Budd. I've ordered some AN Over-Drive for the last 2 weeks feed, hoping it may increase the bud size, one last push :) I think they have another 2-3 weeks to go but would love to hear what others think. They smell nice, they're still drinking well and leaves are green (slight burnt tips as LEDs were too close) ....have some amber starting to develop. The new girls are already the same size as these.... and have just gone into flower so space is going to get tight! Your thoughts pretty please ..

Pics Fast to vast 12 weeks and Auto Extreme 35 days..... the Auto Extreme are too big to get top shots of. :joy: :joy:

Fast to vast stunted ladies..... almost ready to chop
  • hi everyone.... so leaves haven't gone yellow but I'm sure I will need to chop the girls soon... struggling with space.

I've ordered a jewellers loupe so hopefully that will arrive soon so I can at least get a view of their tryches pre chop.

I've bought a weed dryer and storage jars this week.... so I'm ready to harvest.

Pictures- various colas from both girls.20200726_133321.jpg20200726_133542.jpg20200726_133504.jpg20200726_133618.jpg20200726_133523.jpg20200726_133631.jpg20200726_133817.jpg20200726_133943.jpg
