Losing a smell during curing

Has anybody ever had this issue?

My 5L food grade buckets humidity is around 67%. I’ve been opening it twice a day for a small while before resealing.

I’ve noticed today she is losing more smell and not sure if it’s temperature related or what. She’s been curing for around a week. I know, it’s not long enough yet. But it seems the longer the days are going on the more the aroma is dying out.


Anyone ever had this issue and got around it?

I would only open once a day after RH hit 65% in the bucket.

I always suspected that it has as much to do with the terp profile @ chop as the curing process. Some terpenes evaporate earlier than others. It may just be your particular terp profile.

I have used Grove Bags for the last couple of cures and it has seemed to take a lot of the guesswork out of it. "Terp Lock" technology only works if there are terpenes to "lock in" in the first place, but I have had good cures so far. HTH, IMHO, YMMV, etc.

It was pretty dank to begin with. The rh wasn’t always in 65. Once it reached there, it would go up from moisture building up. So I’ve been opening twice a day for the first week to keep a good exchange of fresh air to get the statement moist air back out. I lost 4oz to mold recently, and believe it was because I left it sitting in a bucket a day or two without opening. Probably creeped into the 70 rh range. I’ll see how it goes soon. Those grovebags are cool, but it seems I can only find US vendors with those terp locks. They ship to the UK but takes more time, and a lot of shippin cost
