Mars Hydro 400 (80x5)

Brand of LED: Mars Hydro

Price of the led : $225

Delivery cost: $0

What size was the grow space : 2.5'x2.5'

Spectrum used: 450+660nm primary

Customer service rating..1-5: 1 ( not so much customer service, as reps to spam advertise canna forums all over the web)

Wattage of the LED ( actual power draw if poss): 190w

Optics used : lenses, mostly 90°.

Build quality: big and heavy. Components are epileds maybe 30% and 86% eff drivers(drivers wastes an extra 20w lol)

Warranty length : 1 year

Any noticeable plant deficiencies : heavy Mag deficiencies. Bombards chlorophyll a and b and lacks much else.

Value for Money Rating..1-5: 2.5 ( a 30% efficient epiled fixture should be priced at around $.50/w, this is double that)

Addition info : I was told this light would replace a 400w hps by a sales rep(on another forum). This light most definitely under performed. More accurate to a 250w hps(best case scenario)

Link to your AFN grow: actually had to add more light near the end. The spread is so awful for these things too.

Mars Hydro told me recently the Mars 2 400w should at least perform as good as a 250w hps if not better. Saying it will perform as good as a 400w HPS is definitely not good info, I just enquired about one myself. I will admit the 300w strips the green out of my leaves even with heavy amended soil, the plants seem to handle it better in flower than in veg mode. So I veg under something else now.

This was a year ago. I enquired with Sara about matching the output of a 400w hps and that's what was recommended. After proper research it's clearly not the right choice, a 900 would've been better, but all of the Mars 2 lines are overpriced for what they are(watt for watt hps equiv)

Of course they still recommend a mars 1200 for a 4'x4' coverage then they show you this chart with that big old center ppfd lol.
