Mephisto Genetics Mephisto catalogue originals line change up - what do you guys think?

OMG I am *so* excited for regular Mephisto strain stock! I like the idea of making our own crosses with top shelf gear.

Yes exactly! I've been thinking about and wanting to make them since last autumn, but given the current catalogue size it's really hard to find a window to do this work.

We're currently on the look out for farm [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG]
So let's see how that goes as it would give us a bigger scope for everything, just double the work

In a couple of months we'll be releasing some regs available through an auction format, from the original f3 stock, but then in 2018 at some point we'd *hope* to make them properly available

Cheers

I'm gonna dissent a little (and agree a little :ladies:)
My thoughts for what they're worth...

1) There's already been a lot of "catalog" changes, I think it's really good that you're consulting the customers first this time

2) I can see, like has been said, that not trimming the catalog once in a while could cause significant issues. Of course you could always use a few more feet of the farm and pick an intern from AFN, it's not like there hasn't been a truckload of volunteers:drool: :worship::crying:

3) I had to re-write this one as what I think is Mephisto's strategy hit me when I stepped out mid-post for a smoke. If the catalog has to be trimmed then why not drop all the Blues and Chemdogging crosses as the Livers is out (replacing the blues) and the new Chemdawg strain is coming, I think in the next Artisinals drop. Then Mitch's future plans may include re-adding re-done crosses with the new strains on a case by case depending on popularity and other factors. If you go by the Livers strains I'm thinking this may make some nice increases in dankness :pimp:

4) Sour Bubbly is, to me, a more Illuminauto type of strain, though if and when I grow one out I'm sure my thoughts may change. So I'm okay with that.

5) MY PANTIES ARE IN A TWIST (boxers?) over discontinuing TRIANGLE! :yeahthat: I know it's been in the catalog a long time and is probably not a huge seller, but puh-lease!!
If me (in the states) can put up with all this limey Livers nonsense (yeah I know they're fire,) then you ought to at least keep an important strain that was created in my home state around. Even if AvT and some of the other strains have stolen a lot of it's thunder. Archie probably didn't realize his Walter White comes from The White which is a (special) Triangle pheno. I think. Can't you at least make it a limited or a permanent Illuminauto or something?? I can't see where 3 Bears is to Triangle like Livers is to Blues. I just can't. But my experience is limited. I think I have one Triangle bean. If you do drop it then maybe I can try to get more and run a few every year for seeds and bud. I'd rather still be able to get it from Mephisto.

6) Please consider straightening out the cush/crack mess. If you do re-do Blue Cush with the Livers could you name it Blue Crack, or on the other hand drop the other crack names if they're harmful to what we're all about. And consider releasing the auto cush after bx to a primo GC, maybe with the original name. I respect your reasons, from what I know of them, for not releasing a straight GC. But maybe it's time to either poop or get off the pot :crying:

7) Reserved for more inane ramblings... :pighug:

peace out

Ok heres my thoughts on the chem city blues.... 10/10 for taste, smell and bud structure etc but for me the let down was the strength so i feel if the smell and taste traits have been have been mirrored in some of the newer strains but with more of a kick let her go.

By the way no disrespect intended, it was still a beautiful strain and i as you know exclusively stick with mephisto, but just sharing my thoughts on that particular strain.

Not at all man, this is yours and everyone's opportunity to say what they like and don't like, want and what they don't want

For me as well, chem city blues was a hybrid, I liked it a lot though, still one of my favourites to bust up and take in the aroma, but I wouldn't base a new project off it as I think there are better candidates for this purpose

Cheers

My thoughts for what they're worth...

1) There's already been a lot of "catalog" changes, I think it's really good that you're consulting the customers first this time

...........
What changes do you mean? Just curious.
..........

2) I can see, like has been said, that not trimming the catalog once in a while could cause significant issues. Of course you could always use a few more feet of the farm and pick an intern from AFN, it's not like there hasn't been a truckload of volunteers:drool: :worship::crying:

..........
That's actually the issue - there's zero space available for more stuff, it's all currently utilized to the point where it's affecting project development
.......

3) I had to re-write this one as what I think is Mephisto's strategy hit me when I stepped out mid-post for a smoke. Yes blues will be out, and chemdogging crosses, although chemdogging is still super nice and still very different from the creme de la Chem that's coming - For that reason I couldn't let it slip until another chemdogging version is ready.
.......

4) Sour Bubbly is, to me, a more Illuminauto type of strain, though if and when I grow one out I'm sure my thoughts may change. So I'm okay with that.

.........
I really like sour bubbly, dense buds like the 24c with the size and yield of hubbabubba but for whatever reason it's not so popular and hence can be cut without losing sleep.
.........

5) MY PANTIES ARE IN A TWIST (boxers?) over discontinuing TRIANGLE! :yeahthat: I know it's been in the catalog a long time and is probably not a huge seller, but puh-lease!!

The thing is, it would need a bx to the original cut that we no longer hold to be more like the original, whereas the new yeti project has finally locked down a real og aroma and Teri profile, same with the livers/blues projects these new ones are way truer to the photos used but it takes a few years and a whole heap of work and determination to get to that point.

A blue crack/blue Cush v2 could be made at some point - same as above point though. We'd need the cut and a couple of years to get the new project done how we'd like
.......

Cheers! Ps answers are in the quote !

I agree with the GC. Thin out the old stuff and keep progressing with awesome new crosses and projects.

I think keeping regs of classic strains is also a great idea so that the Clever Ones can keep them alive for us normal folk  :vibe:

I think consistency is the key: consistently good and consistently getting better. It seems you got it covered me thinks :worship:

Also I would add I love what you're doing now with the old school uk strains. I think thats a bit of a genius move (get your tongue out of his arse boy!) lol.

Seriously though, for an oldy like me, being able to grow autos with proper old uk genetics is amazing. Exodus cheese ffs!!! :vibe:

Keep the creative fires burning.

I'm new to growing, but it looks to me like your offerings keep getting better and better.

Sometimes it behooves maturity to move over and make space for the youth.

p.s.

I for one would love a world without "crack".

What a yucky word with the most evil of connotations.

Ganja is too beautiful and spiritual a gift
to be associated, even lightheartedly, with freebase cocaine, an unequivocal destroyer.

Just Sayin....

And yes my Sour Cush are coming along nicely. :)

Mitch by changes I meant that it seemed like half the strain list isn't in the catalog. I didn't really take into account the limiteds that expired, lol, sometimes I think of the limiteds as part 2 of the originals and I know that's not your intention. I guess I also didn't account for the fact that a number didn't make it past the tester stage (I think.) That's all.

I saw the info you gave on needing farm [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] right after my post hit so now I know there's not a lot of room to spare, lol.
Did see a new volunteer offer though!

I'm in favor of having both chemdawgs for a while too for the same reason

I suspect I might find a lot too appreciate in Sour Bubbly if I actually tried one, I tried to convey that above as well

That really sucks on the Triangle. Really sucks. But what can ya do?

Thanks for what you do do (lmao - doo doo!!!)
