Grow Mediums Mini Kratky 1.0 test - All organic......Will it work?

Sorry to hi jack your thread pop but i wanted to bring to lite the importance of the renewable resources. Considering that peat almost wholly comes from canada (where i live) it is stripped from the bogs where it grows and the growth rate is thousands of years to replenish. Its used in gardening to aerate the soil and drive down ph.

peat bogs take hundreds to thousands of years to form. We are currentlly harvesting them at an alarming rate. coco coir is a renewable and a good substitute for peat. So yes, its a point worth reiterating! And no, yopu didn't hijack my thread, I always look forward to good discussion, as we both larn that way. I wish I got more questions like this! I'm no expert, but I never reply without knowing or researching an answer.

Your shear intrepedity knows no bounds!!! I really wish I had the space and the time to get down on this stuff like you do!! I can't wait for the chance to do an outdoor grow, in all honesty, but I wanted to test some soil mixes indoors first.. If I can get it to work indoors, it should definitely work outdoors, right?!

yes ot can work outdoors also! My inspiration for doing this was seeing it work in a greenhouse environment!

Pop i started using the kratky method based on ur results in a 10 gallon and the plant is doing very well. Got a stone in there and im using the canna coco line at about 650 ppm under a t5 ho 4 bulb setup. Ive got a journal called multiple grow techniques in hydro section if ur interested. Will post sun nite again.

Thank you, I'll look at your pages! If by a stone, you mean airstone, then its not the Kratky method. Kratky used no mechanical aides.

I too just learned this recently, although I had wondered about its sustainability. I'm not an eco nut, but I'm willing to change what’s reasonable for me to do so, every little bit helps. KISS principals and organics are my goals, where possible.

Stone dragon. They are so popular here i thought u would get the short hand. No kratky all the way. Even read his paper.

Stone Dragons are some potent meds. The cross with Jack Herer makes it even more so. The high is a good head buzz and a body stone. Take a couple hits, and your good to go to do things. Take a couple more, and couchlock takes on new meaning....lol!

Hey pop, so I guess I'm still learning the terminology of soil grows.. Lemme get this straight though: anything added to a soil is an amendment, so compost IS the amendment.. I think I meant amendment, not supplement.. Then again, I can't quite remember the context that I wrote that in..
