Grow Mediums Mr and Mrs AutoOtto's medical cannabis Autoflower grow diary #2: AK-49 auto, Red Poison and Ogre

Hey guys, meant to post the other day, but couldn't get to it, some great progress in the garden though, as you'll see now. As you may recall, I said I'd try to get some root pics here a couple of bucket changes ago. Well, although I didn't post at that time, I did get those pics, which make a great compare and contrast to the pics I got yesterday (11 days apart) here you see the earlier pics:

And here the pictures taken yesterday:

Lovely root development, as always. In veg, I use Heavy 16 two part veg nutes, amended with a little GH CAli MAgic and 2 mils per gal of rapid start and 1 mil per gal of Orca. The week before I hit them with the bloom nutes, I give them 1 mil per gal of Heavy 16 fire and 2 mil per gal AN Bud Candy. This program is what I call a "clear res" solution. Meaning it doesn't stain your roots. Now, Heavy 16's Bloom nutes are anything but, and after trying them, I don't feel them suitable for DWC. So subsequently, I tried GH's FloraNova line, and while they aren't as root-staining as the Heavy 16 line, they still are far from a "clear res" solution, so now that I've used up what I bought of that line (our photoperiod Brooklyn Mango will use up the last of it) we are about to try Technaflora's bloom line, which I've heard mixes up very clear, so that's what these autos are going to be on once they go on bloom nutes, and if it seems to be a solid product, and the "clear res" solution we're looking for, all our stuff going forward will be on it. So here's the autos 12 days ago:

And some pics from yesterday, the 3 plants under the smaller hood are photoperiod White Widow, the 2 closest plants on the other side of the flexi-duct going into that hood are photoperiod Sweet Deep Grapefruit, the other 9 are the AK-49 autos

Some lovely progress, and one of the ladies is already showing small pre-flowers. Going to wait until they look to be in week 3 of bloom before hitting them with the bloom nutes, want them to veg as long as possible before they begin their pre-flower stretch. I expect to do two more bucket changes before that point, though.
Finally, the other 6 autos (Red Poison and Ogre) have just begun their explosive growth phase, and in 2 weeks should look amazing, competing with their sisters

Excited for this auto crop, just a couple more months!

:stylez rasta smoke:

Always showin off, Auto. If I ever switch from flood tables to buckets....I'm comin to you for advice!
Nice work folks.

Hey guys, time for another update. The AK-49 autos are doing amazing. All of them have begun to pre-flower now, some lovely pom-poms coming in:

Next bucket change, I plan to give them one more week of veg nutes with a little Heavy 16 fire and AN Bud Candy added in, and hit them with the full bloom nutes the following bucket change. Here are some individual shots of the ladies

Nice garden you have growing. Does the AK49 smell much atm?

Not a whole lot as far as the room smell, but if you rub their stalks, you get a super dank whiff of the AK, reminds me of bags of AK-47 I used to get=)

Hey Auto how is it going man? Everything alright?

Hey Auto how is it going man? Everything alright?

Good to go, my brother. Thank you for your concern, but just been super busy and not feeling completely myself lately, but much better and less hectic atm. The AK-49's are doing amazing here are some individual snapshots taken 5 days ago. First the 6 largest plants:

We'll start with the pure Sativa pheno, I'm guessing this will take 11-12 weeks of flower to produce some nice, airy, Sativa donkey dicks

This pheno seems very much a Sativa/Indica hybrid, maybe 70%/30% Sativa dom

Whereas these 2 might be more of a 50%/50% hybrid

This one leans more towards the Indica side, maybe 70%/30% Indica dominant, with a nice chunky cola structure, and out of this world aroma

This even squatter and pretty much completely Indica bush has quickly become the frostiest of the bunch in a room full of very frosty plants

And I really don't know where this one falls in the spectrum, bit of an oddball

And it turns out I labeled the Red Poison and the Ogre backwards, because the ones I labeled Ogre have dark purple buds from the get-go, lol, but here they all are (I'll get good close ups of the purple flowers soon)

I have switched recently from GH FloraNova line to Technaflora and I love the simplicity of the feeding schedule, I love how clear a bucket of nutrient water mixes up so as not to stain the roots on my lovely ladies, and as you have seen, the plants seem to love them as well, thinking we've found the bloom nutes we'll stick with, for now. Don't know what happened to some of the pics I uploaded last post, but will get some nice, current close ups of the flowers on these girls and post them soon. Loving these AK's, think they'll do significantly better on the potency tip than the Northern Lights did, and they grow really vigorously with a nice, mixed bag of Indica, Sativa and Hybrid phenos. Some will finish sooner than others, but I expect to harvest them all in the next month and a half. Well, I guess that's all for this entry. Happy growing everyone, and stay medicated.
