Hi all, what the heck, here is my little experiment I have been running the past 3 weeks.
For those of you who know me and tried to help me before, I decided to run a little experiment with the last of my beans. After so many failed grows and pH problems, I refuse to be beat on this, or change growing mediums etc, I want to get on top of this!
My pH in Biobizz allmix has always been really low, causing so much yellowing of leaves, red stems and slow growth. I wasn't sure what was causing this so I decided to throw caution to the wind and set up an experiment;
3 pots-small,less than 1ltr
3 seeds-2 Short Stuff Auto Assassin, 1 WOS Sugar Mango Ryder
2 indoor-no tent, no filter/extraction, straight under the MS0006
1 outdoor, in greenhouse.
All Biobizz Allmix, added garden lime before I started.
Grow Northern MS0006
I am using straight tap water for the WOS SMR indoors, and the Assassin in the greenhouse, not stood or pH'd or anything-just straight tap water. The second Assassin is indoors and I'm using shop bought spring water.
Very interesting results so far!
Both SMR and AA indoors sprouted ok, have shown good growth. The AA (spring water) is much taller and seems ahead of the SMR (tap water), the AA outside is very much behind- taller, stretchier (is that a word?) but still looking ok. All plants are around 3 weeks old. Hit all 3 with a dose of Epsom salts last week, apart from that foliar spray its just been plain water so far.
I'm trying to grow organically, as I do with all the fruit/veg I grow. It seems to me that the lime has worked well to stablize the pH of the Allmix. I think I added a little too much though, I added a tablespoon and a half to 6ltrs of soil! OOOOOOPPPPS, far too much, soil pH is about 7.2, but it's doing ok so far. I expect it to come down when I start feeding (if I need to).
The interesting thing is what I believe to be happening is the SMR that's being fed with tap water is doing well, but the microherd is struggling with the shit in the tap water. The AA however with spring water seemed to be doing better, but suddenly the SMR is having a spurt and is catching up!
Next water will contain some molasses and see how we go from there. It's starting to "hum" a little bit in my room now, I don't care to be honest, when and if it gets too much I'll put my tent and c.filter back up and start all that again. For now though, my room smells nice lol, plants look healthy and I'm happy with that. This is an experiment, I'm not (clearly) looking for yeild, just to get my shit sorted.
Peace.
Dazed..
