Need help with deficiency!!!

Yeah, that is pretty expensive but I understand the feeling of knowing your tools are working. The solutions aren't too bad if you buy them in bulk. I have found 1 liter bottles on amazon for about $20USD and get free shipping with them. A liter will last a couple of years if you are careful with it.

Its the shipping that drives up the price over here. Even for a 460ml including shipping (domestic shipping I might add) is over $40. Sometimes I wonder why I don't emigrate lol. How much is power in the US? I'm paying €0.1928 per kwh which is about $0.26 and there is a standing charge of $20 per month on top of this. Running HID lights and dehumidifiers, etc can get expensive!

My replacement probe came today. I swapped it out for the old one and tried calibrating the meter, only to be met with the same problem as before! It asks for the 7.01 solution, I place it in the pouch containing it and after a minute or two it looks for the 4.01 solution. I tried leaving it in the 4.01 for several minutes but it doesn't recognise it so I cant calibrate the unit. The readings are way off and the meter is totally useless in this condition. My plants are thirsty and I could really do with sorting out my soil pH as they are all stunted. To say I am a little angry right now would be an understatement!!

hey bro, is is a Hannah? If that is the case you can do a cal without the 4.01. It is just a single point calibration but it still works. If not, tell me what kind it is and I will see if I can help you with it.

Ah, I just saw your other post as well. I pay a base of $27/month just to have electricity and then a rate of $.0866/kWh. It sounds cheaper but when you calculate the base charge in, it is pretty close.

Yes it's a Hanna HI 98129. I tried the one-point calibration as described in the manual but when I test it with the 4.01 solution afterwards, it reads 6.8! I also placed it in a glass of water with a good few drops of pH-up and it only gets up to 7.4 so it must still be giving false readings. I only had the disposable pouches of calibration solution and I accidentally spilt the 7.01 so I'll have to get more tomorrow. I had calibrated it at the start of the grow a couple of weeks ago so I don't understand how it went so far out of spec practically overnight!

6.8, you gotta be kidding me? Was the bulb shipped moist? Have you tried to clean it yet? Did you try the single point with the 7.01 or 4.01? Have you calibrated it with the new bulb on?

It was shipped with a cap on the end and what looked like a piece of foam inside the cap with the bulb. Not sure if it was wet or not. I put a few drops of 7.01 in the cap and I'll leave it overnight before trying again to be sure. I used the 4.01 for the one-point but I also tried the 7.01 and I still got wrong readings. It literally went from reading my tap water at about 7.2 one day to 6.8 the next. Even in a strong pH down solution, it wont read less than 6. It's saying my battery level is about 80% so they should be ok but I'll change them too in case that's the problem. The timing couldn't be worse for this to happen and I can't afford a new meter now

Edit: I had the new bulb in when calibrating

Bro, I wish I could help you but it sounds like your board in the meter is going out. I know you don't want to hear that. If I could do it I would send you one right now. I hope you get it worked out man.
:karma Cloud:

That sure is what I didn't want to hear. Looks like I'm going to live a very basic life this week and buy another new meter with my cash instead! If I didn't have so much bad luck I'd have no luck at all lol :face: Thanks for your time all the same dude :smokebuds:

Hey man, that 98129 is a real nice meter but you can get a 98107 for about $30 that will serve your purposes just fine. Just an idea when you go looking.
