I have my heat extrusion or heat sink figured out as well.
I have this stuff picked out.
Going to get a 36" piece.
Just waiting for some to get made and shipped.
I am hoping 4 Cree CXB3070 will be okay with passive cooling? I would prefer to avoid fans... But this is this widest stuff before the cost gets too much...

@Timbo some quick math says it should be good to passive cool 5-6 cxb3070s at 1.4A. Or active cool 13-14, that's a beast of a heatsink.

Just got my heatsinks. Two 4.85"x7" to fit in my mars 300. Active cooled though.

Hey guys!!! Finally have all my stuff to start my build!

I have cobs mounted to my heat sink using the ideal holders... Thermal paste and tapping wasn't bad at all!

I have my MeanWell hlg 185H-C1400B all rough wired up cobs in series.

I don't have a dimmer switch or anything for the dimming wires (blue and white)
I can wire the 2 wires together and
Will get 100% volts or current? To the cobs?

hey nice sink looks like its good for about 270 heat watts passive or 500w of cxb3070s at that current--beast( i just did it in my head though didnt put it into my speadsheet)

leave the wires open for 100% out put- you do not want to short the + and - of the dim leads


to add a dimer get a 100k pot and a 10k resistor like below

what bin cxb3070 did you get?

I am stuck working tonight but here is a quick upside down picture of my cobs mounted to the beefy heat sink.

I have my new LED light mounted in my cabinet and wired up!
It's amazing! The light is so more intense than my CFL setup!! Its insane! Very happy with results so far. I can't wait to get a couple girls under there!!!!
I am going to run it for a day and see what my temps line out at. Then toss a girl in there!

So far it appears I am going to have a bit more heat. I was at 28•c
Sitting at 30•c now. It's been running for 5 hours now.
The heatsink is warm but not hot at all. Seems to be good.
I will post a pic once I get something in the cabinet.
