Hi All,

I am new to growing cannabis and don't really smoke much. After lurking and learning from you all for a while, I decided to make an account here. I do love growing vegetables so what with cannabis being legal recently in Alaska, I figured why not. This summer I want to try growing a couple of autos in the greenhouse. If anyone has any tips or advice about greenhouse growing in high latitudes, I'm all ears! I am trying autos so that I don't have to worry about adjusting the light levels. So if anyone has ever tried something like this, I take advice and criticism well!

Just started my first cannabis plant ever, a Northern Lights Auto and it is growing amazing!

thanks & I love the community here!

Welcome Moosey.

There are quite a few AK members here on site. I am sure one or two will chip in and give you some great advise for your latitude.

Good Luck, eP.

Thanks epenguin! Yes, seeing the great community and especially some of my fellow Alaskans was what finally prompted me to join. Thanks for all that you do :)

Welcome Moose! Lots of Alaskans here! I'd check out some of the grow journals to learn some good pointers. CalMag is something you will want to add. It's made all the difference in my grows.
Greenhouse growing will not be much different than in the house.

To make your grow legal here in Alaska, it can't be seen from outside the yard, and put a lock on the greenhouse door. Then you're legal, from what I have read.

I grow in a tent, but I'm sure I'll put a plant or two in my greenhouse this summer as well.
Here's a super quick grow journal I just did. I harvested 3 days ago. Anyway, welcome!

Welcome Moose, to the most awesome AFN. Anything I can help you out with, just let me know. I love the beloved herb and our fantastic state too! Glad you found us!

Hello, I think you made a fantastic choice. I joined AFN for much of the same reason you did. I too am growing auto's outside this summer but minus the green house part . I have a couple lowryder 2's gowing in the house right now that are getting close. I am going to try a few different varieties out in the garden this year and see how it goes.lots of good help here I have found and sure you will find much of the same. If your good and gardening like you say there shouldn't be much problem. Growing cannabis has been one of the best things I have done in a long time. Not only do I love gardening but it has given me and my wife something to do while I'm at work and has made the long winter more manageable. I don't smoke much either because of my job but weed really improves my wife's quality of life due to some medical/sleep issues. Happy summer and may it be warm and full of flowers!!!

Thanks guys!! Sure am liking being around such a helpful community.

Alaskan1, thanks for the input on the greenhouse legalization. I don't think that what I have will be able to be seen from the road and I'll consider a lock. Besides, it'll be minor compared to the other plants in there.

Snowchicken, good luck with those in the open garden! Can't wait to hear how that goes. I tried tomatillos in the garden last year (similar temp requirements) because I wasn't around much for greenhouse watering; I had mediocre results, I got something but not as much as I wanted. So I'm going to try out the greenhouse route and get er all done up nice. Plus the regular greenhouse fare will be nice to have too :)

Welcome, Moose, and good luck on your grow. I'll be joining in the Alaskan greenhouse efforts too!

Welcome, Moose. Obviously a great bit of info here and the Alaska growers are thick, too! I am doing two closet grows (my first ever) now, but will am also prepping up for some greenhouse growing as well. Looking forward to watching your grow and comparing notes on greenhouse growing in AK.

Welcome AKmoose , I grew Northern Lights last summer part time outside, and in a green house should do fine ,and its great smoke too!
