Hey guys, Ive been reading the forums for a couple of months now and I finally decided to sign up. I’m a total newb when it comes to growing. I got some Gorilla Glue and some Green Crack Auto’s from Fast Buds, and Seedsman threw in some Auto Kush because I like free stuff, and they’re nice like that.

So this is going to be my first grow, it’s going to be a guerilla grow in smart pots, in Great Lakes living soil. I’d love to be able to grow indoors, but I have kids in the house, and cultivation is not legal in my state. I’m a medical marijuana patient, but the prices are still through the roof here ($80 for a 250mg cartridge). I live next to a bar, so growing in my yard is not an option. I was going to start them inside and then move them to my location I scoped out. My plan is to start the plants indoors under cfl’s and 5k led’s for the first week, second week start introducing them to the sun a few hours a day to build up their tolerance, and as soon as the 3rd set of leaves pop out move them onto a pallet at my location.

I’m pretty sure I’m over complicating it in my head as far as nutes go in my head. I have an HTG very close by, my main question is (and I know this is mostly opinion based) what line of nutrients do you prefer, Fox Farms, Advanced Nutrients, Canna, or General Organics?

Hello and welcome Dan to AFN. Depending on the size of smartpots you will be using you might be able to the Mephisto super soil amendment and then that would be a water only grow. I used the Advanced Nutrients on my last grow and did ok with it. I'm now using the Megacrop all in one nutrient which you should be able to read a few other grows here that have used it.

I was going with 10 gallon smart pots for the gorilla glue, and I was going to try to grow the green crack in 7 gallon to try to get it to finish a little quicker, so I could harvest the green crack, then the gorilla glue should be done when the GC is dry or very close to it. I’ll definitely look into the Mephisto amendment, that’s pretty much what I’m looking for, something that takes the guess work out of it, until I can start growing indoors. Thanks for the help bud.

Hello Dan the man. Plenty wise old birds here happy to help. Good luck my friend and welcome...............eP.

Thanks penguin. It’s an art. I see some of the grows that these guys pull off and I’m absolutely floored. There’s more than 1 way to skin a cat. This will be the grow to pop my cherry, pretty much all I’ve been doing over the last few months is reading, and researching. Originally I was going to go indoor in a tent, but after some second thoughts, (my girlfriend is crazy, she lives with me, and I doubt her ability to be able to keep her mouth shut, even though her dad used to guerilla grow, she didn’t know until well after) I picked out a spot near my house that is about as remote as I can get around here, and it has some unfriendly brush, so I know that people aren’t going to willingly travel back there for no reason just to poke around.

I figure I’ll take my chances in the woods rather than the chance that my girlfriend who’s a bartender gets a little mouthy and says something to one of her friends absent-mindedly. There are deer in the area, so I was going to put up some chicken wire fencing and piss all around the area every time I go there, throw down a few pallets, and put the smart pots right on top of them so that they are elevated for drainage. I’m going with Great Lakes water only soil, because I’m not very confident on nute scheduling even though I’ve read and bookmarked grow diaries for some of the more successful grows I’ve seen for the strains I’m going to be cultivating. I figure auto’s for my first grow, less time for things to go wrong, even though, if things do go wrong there’s less time to recover. Anyway, I’m just rambling right now, so I’ll cut it off here haha

I'd advise against smart/fabric pots, (unless you plan on using BIG ones), as they will dry out very quickly! :headbang:

Thanks for the tip, I’m afraid to just drop them in the ground at my spot just because of how wet the area gets. Would air pots be a better choice, or pretty much the same thing with the air being able to get in there?
