new guy

thanks for your responce i am using the accurate 8 for soil and an echo ph2 for water I know its a cheap pen but it calibrates to the tenth seems right on so far.I will just wait a bit and see what happens. Thanks again Fishercat13
I consider the Eco2 to be a great pen for the money. Mine's been at it for over 3 years and still reads well. I keep it in the proper storage solution, and calibrate with 4.01 and 7.0.

:welcome: hey bud! Pop into Introductions for some meet & greet!

...I need pics to evaluate,... could be that the soil is a little hot for them, auto's don't want rich soil to start in generally,... a good trick to do is to make about a qt. size pocket in the center filled with a milder seedling soil, and sow right into that,....
Thanks thats a great tip will use that next grow.It seems you were right as my babies are green up more now soil was probably to hot.I also want to thankyou for another tip I picked up from you on another thread about fungus knats.I had the DE spread out about half an inch thick on the top of the pots right after the seeds sprouted this time after having problems with knats the first grow but was still seeing the little buggers here and there.I had ground up and sprinkled dunks on the surface last grow but your sugestion about the dunks mallasses tea sounds like a much more efective sulution just brewed some up.Thanks again.Much respect. :cheers:Cheers Fishercat (cool critter, BTW!)... I love that you have an A8 probe already! that tool will help you steer away from FUBAR road bumps from day 1! Just curious, what does you soil read at? The A8 is not foolproof, follow the directions for use carefully,.. I always scrub mine down before every use, and wipe it clean in between readings with a damp towel, and before storing it in a bad or something make sure it's dry,.. that bi-metal tip is the key to measurement accuracy, and corrosion will wank the results! ...always let it sit for a few minutes to stabilize before reading; don't take reading after feeding that day, or using pH'ed water even,... soil/medium should be nicely moist, but not saturated or especially, dry! That moisture meter does come in handy too,...:eyebrows:

Good to hear they're getting better,.. as they get older, they'll tolerate the soil better,...
