I am a new convert to the idea of a dark period prior to harvest ... theoretically harvest takes place when the production of new THC does not keep pace w/ the breakdown of THC caused by light ... thus one positive of a period of darkness is several days of THC production when there is no light breaking it down ... I believe fooling the plant into thinking that it's fall is an added bonus ... My thought, which I'm not willing to try, is that since red is supposed to be the weakest wavelength of light that perhaps the same light hours of red would produce more THC while breaking down very little and most days in the fall have some light ...

I'm in the last 7-10 days of a photo grow so I'd love to find more info on the idea of running straight Flowering for the last couple of days ... no more than a couple days because I think the Flowering lights can be harmful to plants ...

I have to admit LED lighting is really a hobby in and of itself, there seems to always be something new to read about and guys are trying all sorts of ideas to get the best results. I had considered some supplemental lighting recently, but then got concerned by the effects this would have on the color ratio in the lighting spectrum. I've seen some arguments that adding badly configured spectrum's of red's to an existing setup can cause havoc with the plant if used during the entire flowering stage, but a few days to replace total darkness at the end makes a lot of sense.

Based on your light's results I can't imagine more effective spectrums ... If I get a chance w/ my current photo grow I may experiment w/ that switch ... I want to leave a good oz of buds to get more mature than usual before harvesting them ... supposed to increase the 'stone' .... perhaps I'll do the last 3 days on those buds w/ flower switch only ... I've turned the light down to 11 hrs already ...

The chop is today folks! Just putting my chi in order over here before I get down to work. It's been a lazy 3 months, not sure I'm ready to actually start cutting her up. Back in a bit.

A few more pics. She could go a bit longer and probably turn more purple but I started losing a lot of leaves and water uptake seemed pretty slow.

all hung up and ready to dry, I'm going to snip off the smaller buds as they dry. I may even do a light wrap in newspaper tomorrow. I'm running the humidifier on low and have the door open a few inches to keep rh ~ 50%.
Popcorn buds and leaf trim are in paper bags.


Some mega trich things, seem to have quite a lot of these on the lower buds
